My Satellite Setup
Some SAT-related hardware.

N-E from Riga
On my main stationary antenna (SMW-OA-1600) 7 quad LNBs are installed (0,8*W-4,8*E-13*E-19,2*E-23,5*E-28,2*E-36*E), but on the back of the dish there are 4 x 1/10 Diseqcs. Therefore I still have 3 positions to make my favorite list complete. I think I will go for 30*W, 9*E (some positive changes are planned there). And the last satellite in the list of stationary received will probably be 75*E or 90*E.
Today, I was thinking about 30*W position..... this is satellite with quiet strong signal at my location (from previous experience), so, most likely 75cm dish would be more than enough to pull all (or most) needed signals. And, to be sure, I have good reception, I am going to use on e of my favorite dishes, which is FUBA DAP 2000, it is already equipped with Quad LNB (thanks 2 @Trust1 ). This dish needs 50mm pipe to be installed. Yesterday I went shopping and got piece of 48,5mm pipe, which is also OK for FUBA. Made a holder for the dish and, if weather will be like this, than will have FUBA installed and included in my SAT-system this year.

For quiet some time I am using standard pipe clamps as LNB holder. I find them very good to do the job, namely, to hold LNB firmly in the needed position. They also allow to adjust position of the LNB very precisely. I do not thin I will ever go back to whatever plastic, metal.... wooden :D and so on holders. Couple of days ago I've found place where is possible to purchase much lighter clamps. They are made of 1,25mm thick metal (older ones, I've used made of 3mm metal), but because of the special profile they are very strong. And there will always be enough strengths to hold LNB. Those, new clamps, come with rubber inserts and welded M8 nut on the middle of one half of the clamp. Rubber inserts I trow away and angle-grinding the nut (however it also can stay). Size of this new clamp is 31-35mm, but because of removed rubber inserts, is fine to hold 40mm LNB. Those clamps are pricey (INOX made), but perfect in their performance.

Holder for FUBA came out little bit too long, so I cut-off piece of pipe. Hanged antenna and pointed in approximate direction of 30*W. Man, it is cold outside. Have no tome time to play with antennas today, as it is Christmas and friends and relatives are coming over. I still have to make salad and grilled chicken (my portion of the Christmas table).

Have changed mind about 30*W.... re-installed and tuned FUBA to 9*E. Now have 8 Quad LNBs in the system. Perhaps some day will add another LNB for 9*E on SMW-OA-1600 then will realign FUBA to 7*E or 16*E .

Now have 8 Quad LNBs in the system.
Which is something I have been wondering - what's at the other end of the Quads?
It's certainly not the receiver in the Den / Garage / Man Cave... :D
Do you have a mean 33 input multi-switch or a massive patch-bay for connecting the receivers?

There is nothing special at the other end. GB Quad Plus with 3 SAT and 1 Terrestrial tuner, old 52' TV with terrestrial tuner. In the garage I have old (but still good) DM8k with 3 SAT and 1 terrestrial tuner and TV with SAT and terrestrial tuner. Then couple of SAT cards in the PC and one USB SAT tuner. I also gave unlimited access to all the TV channels to good friend of mine (neighbor across the fence) who is streaming channels from my tuners. So, not a big sat-housekeeping at all.

I think I will be installing 1,2m motorized Fibo dish soon. So I digged up its mount, connected proper cable (35 meters from the receiver to the dish) and connected to the positioner just to check how it works. Of course, all the connectors and nuts&bolts are checked and gears are greased properly. I like this mount, made in USA means good quality.

Not planning to do the usals mod ?
At the picture a three-slotted test disc for the optical sensor .
To work with Usals you need nine slots .

I do not think I am ready for USALS mod. By now installed 1,2m Fibo, cable for positioner goes directly to the garage. I think I will install one more Fibo , just to have full set of them displayed and included in SAT-reception.

Brought family shopping, and while they shopped for their stuff I visited normal shop. Bought coax cable and Quad LNB. I think this LNB should be modded to fit FIBO feedhorn, so already stripped it apart.

This was not so easy as I would think and like. Inner diameter of the Fibo feedhorn is 25mm, but this LNB did not have enough metal and had only about 19mm . So, was forced to make adapter (in red square) which goes inside the feedhorn and then LNB will go inside the adapter. I think I will use LocTite to stick adapter to the LNB or even glue them together by epoxy. It is not perfect (nobody and nothing is perfect), but should work.... I think.

Used Loctite to fix adapter to the LNB IMG_20161229_214923 (Custom).jpg , hoping it will hold them tight together. Also finished with plastic cover IMG_20161230_113617 (Custom).jpg IMG_20161230_113905 (Custom).jpg . Surface inside the adapter made as smooth and precise as I could IMG_20161230_114012 (Custom).jpg . Of course, there are some left-overs after such an adaptation IMG_20161230_114054 (Custom).jpg .

Went to pick up my favorite fish and beer, my way passed by SAT-shop, so I also picked up another Inverto Quad.

I am getting tired of the mess around. Was trying to organize LNBs today. Did not organize, but, at least I have them all (OK, majority) in one place. Perhaps I can say that I have 1,2m dish of LNBs :)
Should I separate those of them which can go to another user for bargain price?

I've put an ad in local classifieds showing exactly the same picture as in my previous post. Not so many are willing to buy something. Just one C-band LNB will be gone soon for ~5 EUR. And 10 (maybe 12) Sharp LNBs for 2 EUR each.
