No probs, remember that the LNB being pushed all the way towards the dish may or may not be the ideal position, you need to experiment with the optimum position in this regard.

I found it easier to use the intercom on the phone with me at the dish and someone watching the screen because the adjustments are so minute it is difficult to watch a screen and move the dish.

That sat finder will show you are lined up on a working satellite but not which one. When you got a signal, was it from Thor? It's possible you have the dish/motor assembly aligned to 5W or 5E. Try scanning 12418V, 28000, FEC 7/8 which is one of the strongest transponders on Thor. You should scan in Sky News, CCTV and Al Jazeera if you have set up on Thor.

Key point is to make sure your on 0.8West, as Sonnetpete says try that transponder. If its a no go but the wee sat meter still gets a signal a good tips to do a blind scan and see what channels scan in, that will tell you what sat your on and will give you a bearing on what direction to manually move the whole assembly in order to point it at Thor.

SATlink WS-6906

Very similar to the one in my signature which I use. It doesn't do S2 transponders so it's usefulness is diminishing but it's advantage is that you can scan a satellite and see the results on the screen, verifying you are on the correct sat.

Your current signal finder should be fine, providing you are using it correctly.
Initially you set a cheap signal finder to be very sensitive, this should provide a signal quality reading even when not pointing at a satellite, you then gently move your dish, East/West, until the signal reaches maximum, you then decrease the sensitivity, until it's aroung 50%, move your dish again, until it reaches maximum, then continue the process until you have the best possible signal, you also do the same for the dish elevation.
Once you have the best signal quality possible you check your receiver, to see which satellite you're aligned to.
There are several videos, on youtube, showing how to use different meters, like this one:

I think your wasting your money in buying a new meter, unless you intend to go into the satellite business.
Let us start again from scratch. Using the compass as best you can align the dish to 0.8W ( due west will do ) then move the dish very slightly until you get a good lock on 12418V. Not sure what receiver you are using , but if you can, do a blind scan, if not tell the box you are on 0.8W ( 1W ) and do a full scan with network search / NIT on . Post results here and we will tell you which satellite you are looking at and where to go! ( from there I mean , not where to go! )
