How does it compare with 11127 V at your location? If it's significantly better then this would imply widebeam.

There isn't any sign of 11127 whereas 11165 wants to burn the scale...

11165 100% here, but the UK beam should be no problem here too. So doesn't say much about the beam.

Then 11127 is on the UK beam, because both Pan-European beams should be no problem in Poland.

It's not that obvious as polarization H might have different coverage then V. This is exactly the case with Astra 2D.

Of course but that just supports my conclusion that 11127 is on the UK beam. It's a new bird so I expect far less overspill and that's why I think 11165 is on a Pan-European beam. But it's just an educated guess.

Is it UK beam or Pan-European one?

There is no way (according to published footprints and various reports so far) the UK beam could reach east Med and the island of Crete with 9.7dB on a 1.10 meter dish...

Btw, no sign whatsoever of 11127 here.

No question about that, I am convinced :)

My Satellite Setup
Wintv Nova S2 HD PC card, Quad core PC running DVBViewer on Windows Ultimate. SkyHD+ box.
My Location
Folkestone. Kent. England
Interestingly E4HD has currently popped FTA up on:

Frequency : 12324
Polarisation : V
Symbol Rate : 29500
Transmission : DVB-S2
FEC : 3/4
Label : 3843

And it's FTA! (Comes up as encrypted but it's not!) Is it getting ready to hop over to 1N?

No signal of this freq using my 80cm dish, but fine on my 1.8m dish (70kms south of valencia)
But 11123 (C4HD) is fine and dandy on the 80cm dish.

Suggesting these two freq use different beams....???

Interestingly, 11165H is not very strong here in eastern DK.

Only 50 dBuV, with a 6 dB C/B ratio. This is almost worse than 2D levels.
Not sure what is going on. From the footprint stuff I should be getting nearly the same as the UK if on a European-wide beam.
As poland shows strong signal - why not Scandinavia?

Hmm... there's still more to 1N than we might think...

I think it's been turned off or switched to the UK beam. I'm not receiving this frequency now...

The 11165 H signal is now gone completely here. You may have just caught the tail end of the test as they were winding down. It was easily the strongest signal I have seen at 28.2E (or anywhere else for that matter).

If you're still getting it in Germany it would imply that they are tinkering with the spot beam. Does 1N have more than 1 spot beam ?

we dont know that ... officially no. However we know the satellite has a 1.3m steerable dish. SES do not confirm that, but you can see it at Astriums homepage.
