Report from Basilicata (Potenza) Italy, 40.38N 15.48E
The minimum values of the signal quality during the day (7.00 am - 11.00 pm) occur around 5.00 pm. (the maximum values around 3.00 pm) . The variations between the minimum and maximum values are limited: 0.5 dB in Astra2E e 0.2dB in Astra 2F. More precisely, today at 5.00 pm, the (minimum values) received by a 3.4m Prodelin prime focus dish (+ invacom quad) were
ASTRA2E
10743 H 6.4 dB 10772 H 6.6 dB 10787V 6.2 dB, 10802H 6.6 dB, 11816V 6.4dB, 10846V 6.4dB, 10861H 6.8dB, 10.875V 6.8dB, 10920H 6.0dB, 10934H 6.9dB, so all channels but HD of 10846V are over the threshold (5.9 for normal channels, and 6.5 for HD channels) of my receiver Dr.HD F15.
ASTRA2F
11066V 8.1dB, 11052H 8.9dB, 11023H 8.8dB,10993H 9.0 dB, 10963H 9.1dB, 11125V 8.5 dB, 11096V 8.3dB (of course, these channels are receivable, sometimes with torrentail rain 11023H goes which rarely happens in southern Italy).
As observed before, adding 0.5dB and 0.2dB at the minimum values gives the maximum values, for ASTRA2E and ASTRA2F respectively.
To pass from ASTRA2F to ASTRA2E I need to move the dish, a bit. Anyway, skew is an absolutely important issue. It might be that with a slight move on the skew, an improvement is possible, but this would mean to repeat the correction a couple of times every day, or the use of a motor to rotate the lnb a little bit around its axes.
