Best intelligence to date suggests completion of Testing this week with transfer to 28.2.e commencing this coming weekend at a rate of somewhere between 0.5 and 0.8 deg/day.

15.3 degrees difference, that makes it 19 - 30 days to get there. Is that correct Tivu ?

In Ka-band the transponders are 4. Two 580 MHz, one 480 MHz and one 240 MHz from interconnected in Ku-band with the beam Middle East....

What chance of ANY coverage of Cyprus on any band from the new 2E satellite?
Viktor.

Unknown. You can forget the PSB channels on the UK spotbeam though. No chance of those unless something very weird happens.

If you get the 2F European beam you have a reasonable chance of whatever ends up on the 2E Euro beam..

That's about the size of it and it's a safe bet she'll be on her way soon.

But it still depends upon the satisfactory completion of the entire programme, although I can't imagine it is any more (or less!) onerous and extensive than before.

I didn´t realise 2G was going up next year, Oh no, more speculation. Shall I start it off. No coverage with 3m dish 1cm off the coast of UK! Its getting like all the Apple speculation in the press. After 2G, what is the next scheduled update to 28.2 degrees?

Ok, cheers. I am thinking of geting a new large dish as internet is terrible here. Obviously I wanted to see what 2E had in store for us, now I have to wait for 2G. Still it will give me a good idea of what I can then get for the next 10 years or so. Internet speeds here should then be in to double figures (currently approx 0.39mb, yes 0 point 39!!).

Any idea why SES don't use the letter J in their satellite names? I suppose "I" can be confused with a 1 but why not use J?

The lowercase i and j can look very similar in lots of fonts and apparently are avoided in astronomy (presumably only for non "names" stuff). The letters j, u, and, w don't exist in Latin either.

So it is finally on it's way and from what others have previously said it should arrive in approx 11 days time, say Thursday 28th November. Given that date, and again from what I have understood from our various threads/posts, this should mean that transfers from 1n to 2e can, and should, be seen before Christmas. Have I got that right?

Well, no confirmed reports of it moving just yet, just an odd TLE suggesting it is going east (ie the wrong way).

As for when things will finally transfer over, no one knows for sure yet, but it probably won't be all in one go. There may be a few brief tests at 28E first before any big switch overs.
