At least I got my Oil Tank filled a few days ago, plus I've got two spare LPG cylinders for SWMBO's extremity-warmer.

It's snowing up here in Deepest Darkest North East england... :D

Plenty of nasty black sulphurous stuff to put on the fire for the weekend, and the gas & electric are still working, just, so we shouldn't freeze during this brief flurry... O-Ha

Its been snowing here the last 3 hours or so - and barely half an inch so far - hope it stays that way.

Just this second started here - very light at present.

At least I remembered to buy a Snow Shovel last Summer. It may yet get some use.

Dicky pipe (is he a plumber?) actually.....unfortunately my tame heating engineer (Bob) is currently domiciled in Portsmouth....I fear the call out charges would be severe!!

Easy DiY job, nescafé ?

Small hacksaw, couple of connectors and a short bit of pipe.

Often comes as a Repair Kit.

A man of your calibre shouldn't have any problems .................

Proper blizzard now in full swing.

SWMBO still went out for her walk, so I hope she doesn't get lost.

Whilst I totally aree with Gordon ...Easy DIY job to fix a ruptured bit of pipe ...
I wouldn't recommend a hacksaw ..
Hand held rotating pipe cutter is much superior ..and leaves tapered pipe ends which you can slide into olives easily without mis-shaping the pipe end ..

then use compression fittings (with olives) to fit a new bit of pipe ...as its often hard to dry out pipe sufficiently to use yorkshires ...particularly on old pipe..and particularly on cold water systems .

In my experience 'often' is always ..............had a few failed repairs after draining down a system and not getting the pipe in the area of the Yorkshire joints completely dry despite copious amounts of blow torch, the problem is the more you heat the pipe the more chance you have of evaporating some water further down the run. I always use compression joints now except on a new run, not that I do a lot of plumbing these days.

EDIT

BTW what I was going to post was that we have had freezing rain for the in Lancashire for a few hours now, shame I have not got any skates my driveway it like sheet ice. Was over in Cleveleys earlier and one side of my car was covered in clear ice with hanging icicles even the tyres were covered in clear ice

below is the rain frozen to my double glazed window

..Had more than my share of weather related disaster already ..
..and not dish related for a change ..
8:30pm thursday night ..they came down my road with the gritter...
approx 8:35 there was a helluva bang ...sounded like gunshot ...and the sound of falling glass shards ..
Couldn't see anything ...until the following day that is ..
The fanlight over my front door has a definate impact point ...and radiated cracks ...plus a few glass pieces missing..
My forensic analysis is that the gritter hit the sleeping policeman hump outside my house ...bounced as it spewed and sent a stone hurtling at my fanlight at around 70 mph ...resulting in the damage ..
Course I have no way to prove this ...so its either an insurance claim ..which would bump up the premium..or another DIY job and replace the pane myself ...
Pain in the ass ...Pane over the door ...Pain in the wallet..
Such is life..
Whats more worrying is that ...anyone walking past at the time could easily have lost an eye to the gritter...

still snowing here, must have had a few cms of snow. It doesnt look like it will stop for a while.

vs, you might as well take the hit and replace the glass yourself, as will it be worth claiming ?
