BBC and ITV in Malta?

hi, i have been recieving all the additional channels on my sky system for months but after the storm last evening lost all the "other channels" itv/4/e4/etc. i can still get itv hd when transmitting but no other. has anyone else experienced the same or has my equipment malfunctioned, thanks for any advice, Dave.

Possible you may of had slight dish movement due to the storm.

The dish has probably moved slightly. The "Other Channels" versions of ITV C4 etc are now much weaker in Malta than they were previously thanks to the well documented beam change a month or so back.

Many thanks for your quick response analoguesat, it is possible the dish moved slightly with the extreme winds, i am just a bit weary of moving it as it is welded in position and the signal strength is better than ever when it eventually returned after loosing the whole package this morning. i did try tweaking the l.n.b. and rebooting to no avail, thanks again i,ll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks to all for the help. after missing corrie and emmerdale for 2 days i bit the bullit and moved the dish a fraction, maybe the weld hadn,t took everywhere because the additional channels have all returned with the added bonus of itv hd. :-worship

Your best option is to watch online, Malta, like southern Italy, seems to be in a signal dead zone.

Whoever has an HD capable receiver that decodes SKY or freeview can access ITV 1 and BBC1.
The ITV can be accessed exclusively from the ITV HD channel.
The BBC can be accessed from the interactive channels.
This is limited to certain programming and not all programming.
Some say that ITV central too is available but I never received this to date.
All live programming is normally transmitted on these channels.

Configuration is with an HD box and 1.2 metre 0.6LNB

One doesn't wish to be pedantic, but it is rather important: I think you mean Sky or Freesat, not Sky or Freeview.

Freeview is the UK Digital Terrestrial Service and is most certainly not able to be received in Malta.

You can receive the main UK channels with a set top box which plugs in to your ADSL router. You do need a 2mb internet connection though. See

Virtually all BBC1 sport is simulcast on the BBCi service on ASTRA 2B South.

If you are using a Sky digibox then proceed as follows:
Go to channel 503
Press RED
When BBCi loads go to page 3001
Choose correct multi-screen for your event.

If you are using a FTA box then scan 12441 V 27500 2/3 at which you can store all the BBCi streams.

Ralph, he means BBC i, not BBC 1

The i Streams can be accessed via the Red Button from the BBC News Channel, which is not on 2D

It's been a good ploy for a while now for those wanting a decent amount of BBC Sport and other stuff, much of which is live (same content as BBC1 but with additional sound and video options on occasion) and a good deal more is repeated several times over the course of a day.

He said he wanted to watch the Formula 1, that is why I explained how to access the BBCi Sports feeds on 2B South. BBC1 is only on 2D.

With a FTA box you can get other stuff in addition to sport. For example the Eurovision song contest has been simulcast in the past with "sing-a-long" subtitles shown but still with the normal UK commentary (thankfully no longer provided by Terry Wogan).

Does anyone in Malta know why we have started losing Channel 4 +1, E4 etc around 5-6pm in the evening? Itv and all the other channels are perfect.

I had my sat guy out yesterday, thinking the dish had perhaps shifted over a period of time, but it's all good.

Any ideas?

what size dish do you have in malta?
what kind of lnb?
could be the it is not aligned 100% or the lnb needs twested a bit as well.

I would have to go check what LNB we have. I want to say the dish is either 1.64 or 2.4 but again I would have to check. I know its massive LOL I am 5'1 and 3/4's and it's bigger than me

It just seems weird that it's only just started happening. My sat guy suggested that the frequencies had changed but I have checked and double checked.

Which versions are you having trouble with?

The UK versions are on 10729V and could potentially suffer interference from Badr 5 at 26E

The Irish versions are on 12480V
