Do you think I could have missed it with .5mm steps in both directions

Well it isn't just "both" directions, though - It's four directions at once: ie Elevation Up/Down plus Azimuth East/West.

So the answer is "yes", you could easily have missed it. And don't forget you won't get anything under 11222 MHz, so forget even looking.

Tivo

I could kiss you :-)

Changed the antenna setup to 11259 and got a signal within seconds

FTA Blind scan gives me about 200 channels

Will it have found everything on that blind scan?

Ahem. Whether I'd let you or not is another matter!

Anyway, I suspect that, given you won't get anything from 2D, you may well have got everything.

But of course you could now select the weakest of the Transponders you have got then fine tune the alignment NOT FORGETTING to skew the LNB so you get H and V Channels equally well.

Check reality vs. expectation by comparing your achieved list with _http://www.flysat.com/28east.php (Bearing in mind you can ignore 2D ie 10714 to around 10936).

And when you've satisfied yourself that you've got optimum dish set-up, remove the Konig and bung on the Amstrad.

Beware, however, that the EPG is populated from a "Default" Transponder at 11778 on Astra 2A (North) , which you should be able to receive, the Channel List will include all the 2D Channels - sadly, you won't be able to view them.

How do I identify the weakest transponders

Would they be the ones that fail on channel search?

No, you want one that is viewable ....... your box has Strength and Quality indications, so just watch those and flick through a few Channels or Transponders (depending upon how deep in the menus you find yourself) until you find one that is lower than the rest. Optimise using that and you might then find some even weaker TPs that previously failed will lock.

I think you've learnt enough now to be confident playing around without much more detailed input from us - so well done!

PS. Actually, bung on the Amstrad first and see what happens, just out of interest. But don't try to align using that as the Konig will do a much better job.

Yes

Just a question of playing around now to get the extra channels

Put the amstrad on and works OK apart from a card issue at the moment which I can sort out.

Added channel 4 transponder and it found extra channels inc channel 4, more 4 etc , so when card sorted should be Ok

Many thanks for all the input without which I would have struggled a lot lot longer

Thinking of putting multi feed LNB so I can have a freesat recorder as well as sky (thinking of humax 1T:cool:

Currently have INVACOM, NF 0.3db Part No SNH-031 Lo 9.75/10 6GHz

And thinking of either
INVACOM C120 QUAD LNB QDF-031 + FEED HORN ADF-120

OR

INVACOM QUAD UNIVERSAL 0.3dB LNB QDH-031

The QDF has separate feedhorn as docs say is for a prime focus dish

Any advice would be appreciated as to whether it is worth spending more on the QDH and if it might give me some more Astra 2A/B channels

How do I ascertain if my dish is a prime focus one?

Post up a pic of the dish, if you want help distinguishing between Offset and P-F.

However, Offset dish have the LNB located off the focal axis, but directed towards the focal point, whereas P-F has the LNB on the focal axis.

When you say a Freesat Recorder, do please remember that the Free To Air Channels it will get are substantially exactly the same ones as with Sky. The main difference is in the EPG.

Freesat EPG comes from Eurobird, so you should get that - but it won't alter the fact you cannot get most BBC, ITV etc (ie 2D), so would you not be better just using an agricultural DVD Recorder instead?

Yes, that's right. SCART connected device.

But I see that's not going to fit the bill - unless you use one in conjunction with another Sky box or even a second generic Receiver.

I am just trying to find low cost suggestions as paying well over £200 for a Freesat HDR and not being able to get best use out of it is, from where I sit, a bit of a waste.

PS: Dish is clearly an Offset one. Nice.

So, you need a Universal LNBF, not a C120.

As for "more channels", the best way is to use a bigger dish .............. ! LNBs can make a slight difference, but they only detect what the dish has collected.

Dont mind the cost of Freesat Box as winter here can close in sometimes so good to have plenty of what little I have recorded like a good series.

Which LNB would be more suitable or is there another that might give me a few more channels

AFAIK, the Invacom should be ok. Also consider the Inverto Black Ultra.

But I suggest you wait a few hours until others chip in with their thoughts, as there is always an element of personal experience involved - and that can mean disagreement!

sorry tivu

Only read the top of your last post before replying :-)

I am thinking of going for a larger dish at some point but not sure how big to go I think I read minimum 3.5 for 2D

The one I have only cost 100 pounds including the konig and sky box and single LNB so up to now have not spent very much

I've just checked the list of Channels you Posted earlier in the Thread and it seems you are getting good reception of Eurobird, so the Freesat EPG, Software Update Stream etc should be no problem for you.

But, as with BSkyB, getting the EPG does not mean getting all the Channels listed thereon!!
