The two cams overlap and operate rotate independantly of each other so are adjustable within reasonable limits ..and will eventaually lock once adjusted with a single cenral screw as before..

I'd say these were practical set limits ..
One screw to lock both cams ...in the original hole ...
The first 2 pix are a narrow arc ...with limits set ..and the second 2 are a much wider set arc limit..

Yes it would require raising one of the two micro switches ...
but how hard can that be ?
A 3>4 mm plastic plate and longer bolts ...plus 2x plastic thingies ....and the problem is solved ..
If the manufactures read this forum and steal my idea ..
I want credit ..

Nice mod there VS. I agree that a little thought would have made it more versatile for E/W limit adjustment, but they would have needed to make it easy to access the cams; it's not possible to remove the cover for in situ adjustment is it?
It's not like an actuator where you can usually easily remove it to do any limit adjustment.

We shall see if anything comes of it..

It can be done now without removing the top front cover ..but only with the dish/motor pointing due south...and not easily ...but I'm sure this could be overcome.
The cams would not be easy to retrofit ..but could be done.
I'm thinking this mod should be done at manufacture and wouldn't require major changes to the motor itself..
To that end I've emailed Moteck with a link to my suggested changes.

Simular to a very old RM120 but there is also the need of removing that difficult part of the cover .

So I guess now I can reproduce the mod fairly easily..
Some sanding and greasing once parts are released from their latex molds ..
But ..I'm very pleased with results ,...
I've improved the outer cam a little adding some strength to it in the form of an upper lip ...
Here are some pics ..
showing 2 bottom cams ..and one modified outer/upper ..plus my latex molds..

Moteck Plate Puller ..
Which easily removed 2 plates already one of which was well on with corrosion not helping..
Slowly use with frequent applications of penetrating oil..
Takes about an hour per plate..

I do admire your work again Evan great stuff , for peeps who don't mod stuff, and would like to dismantle your motor, I am sure you will find a ready made one for the job in the link below .

Back to the main meat of the thread ..
This mornin' oi ave been mostly up a ladder....
Removed original cam from the centre shaft ..and replaced with my modded cams ..
Getting the cam screw out wasn't easy as the case seal had leaked a little and allowed it to rust ..
but eventually it gave up and let me win..
Also replacing 4 posi screws holding down the plate with double locked M5 nuts and bolts as these were ALL loose ..
Rather than just tighten them up ..as it's again an error on Motecks part not to at least fit shake proof washers ..
over time these bolts do work loose ..and are then inaccessible once the cover is on.
I've also made the West micro switch raised platform in liquid plastic ..
Not made special ..just what eas left in the bottom of a plastic cup after cam casting yesterday..
Cut to size and drilled ..
Sadly I'm still waiting for my long M2.5 bolts so can't fit this limit switch yet..

So ..it started raining thus I was forced to try and quickly fit the front top cover ..
Oh Oh ..
an oversight on my part ..
I guess I'm entitled to the occasional Boo Boo ..
Since fitting the extra strengthening lip on the upper cam ..this has made the cam a bit taller ..
Not by much ..but enough to stop the lid closing ..
Hopefully I can rectify this with a well aimed file and sandpaper ..
If not I'll simply have to cast a new mold but slightly less tall ...

Thanks to the sloping motor case ...it isn't possible to remove enough of the strengthening lip of the outer cam and still retain rigidity...
Sad to say I will have to re-design the top cam..
If only the case had been more square ..
doh !

No wonder Moteck washed their hands of this problem ..
Because of the sloping case ..thus restricted space in the vertical ..The cams had to be made and remade until they still had strength ..yet were able to fit into the somewhat cramped space available ..
I am calling this done ..but have run out of latex ..so can't take a final -ve of the cams yet ..
This does work though ..
Minimum arc coverage is approx 100 degrees ..wheras max is abot 160 ..
That will do for me ..

I will post photos of the cams themselves individually once I've cast new ones but can't do this at present ..
So just the originals in situ..

Managed to scrounge some latex off a mate on sunday ..
I'll have to give some back once my order arrives..
In the meantime it allowed me to make the final (hopefully) -ves in latex for the 2 cam components ..
Here are a couple of liquid plastic +ves fresh off the press ..err ..mold.
and if the rain ever stops ..maybe I will get to fit em and carry on with the re-build.
