Today I finished the new Fibo lnb changer for 6 different lnb positions .
The old one only could turn 180º and was controlled by a Omron PLC .
The new one is controlled by diseqc 1.2 via a Openbox F-500 , just made only 6 channels at different satellites .
I noticed that with diseqc 1.2 , the max rotation is 270º , maybe enough but I wanted more .
At the little SG E-motor is a gear with 11 teeth , I changed it for one with 16 teeth .
Therefor the motor must be displaced a mm .
Z11 to Z16 gear.jpg
That makes 392º rotation with the same amount of pulses possible and speeding it up.
By cutting-off a part of a second gear and fitting it together with the existing gear , I have a fully round gear .
360 gr gear.jpg
Have to made two new cams (alu) , one for the end-switch and one for the zero switch .
endsw cam.JPG
To make shure there be no play in the future , loosen the bearing holder at one side just enough it could move with a little friction and attached a spring pushing the worm to the gear .
play reduce.jpg
Made a new adapter plate to attach the lnb-holders for the , SL3K (2 positions lin / circ) the C lnb , the original Fibo feedhorn (Ku) the Inverto KAKUO and a spare place to test standard LNBF's .
Quite a job to put them all in te right place (focal dept / hight) , not optimal yet !
The feedarm with the equipment has a load of 5.5 kg .

Just for the movie I attached a Subreflector from a Fibo 90 to it .

Yes AS.......everyday we see/read of their thoughts and makings......incredible and inspiring.

Other sites make comments about here similar to 'take a look at satellites.co.uk, they seem to know what they are doing there'.

Glad we are part of it....well done all. respect-067.gif

The use of a DARK MOTOR dark motor - YouTube would be a very good and easy start .
360º gear , easy to modify endswitch , automatic play adjustment , F-conn. downside .
I still have a piece of triangular feedarm (maybe enough for 2 changers ) and 12 mm inox rod .

Spent almost all the afternoon to adjust the SL3K lnb till i noticed i was struggeling with a faulty right-angle F-conn .
Now the Fibo horn , the KAKUO and the SL3K are optimal adjusted .
Next to do , the C-band lnb and the lnb holder for occasial testing Lnb's .

Before I set it up , I want to finish the new lnb revolver for that dish .
Allready made a prototype

First of all, I think it is great idea to use out-of-shelf Diseqc 1.2 motor to change LNBs! Of course it would be possible to make them turning by servo-motor, but that would require making some kind of waterproof case for servo-motor and attaching additional cogwheels and so on. LNBs separation at 60* is maybe little bit too much, could also be 45*. I will also go the same way, as I have several Diseqc 1.2 motors stored somewhere. And 3 LNB holder itself will make out of INOX approximately like that ScreenHunter_543 Nov. 24 21.52.jpg I feel that slight adjustment of each LNB up/down could also be needed. Will use standard INOX 40mm and 60mm pipe clamps.

... very nice Rima, look forward to your next progress report. This interesting thread has started a lot of interest for people to have a go at making one. :)

Small continuation on rotation plate. Made one LNB-holder, which could be placed over any pair of holes and also adjustable in height.

Yesterday I managed to fit the CM with his new support to the EHM-100 rotor .
CM at EHM rotor.jpg
This morning I started with cleaninh the dish , turned it to zero and attached the original CM set of feedarms .
Put for a moment the laser in the lnb holder and marked the spot .
Next thing to do was , build a stable second stand with a in all directions adjustable 40 mm lnb holder (reference point)
second stand.jpg
Put a short piece of 40 mm PVC pipe in the CM lnb holder and adjusted the reference holder exactly in line .
Removed the CM feedarms and attached the new rectangular feedarm (100 x 18 mm) with the lnb changer .
lnb changer at reference.jpg
From there it was easy to make and attach the new 12 mm alu side arms .
adjustable side arms.jpg
As you can see on the last picture , the darkness appeared .

This afternoon the postman brought me new alu lnb clamps , tomorrow they will be on changer , ready for tests .

... i think it's a good idea to have the slotted lnb bracket for fine height adjustment, i'm going to adopt the same idea on mine. My motor came today, never used one of these devices before, and i have to say that the weight of the thing was a bit of a surprise. It is very well made but heavy, which has given me some concerns about the total weight of the motor and a possible lnb cluster of 4 , including a chunky C-band unit, hanging out on the end of the support boom. I'm in the process of completing my rear of dish bracing of the side support arms and i now consider this as an essential thing to do. Iv'e even thought about mounting the motor at the bottom dish rim position on a re-inforced bracket and having a "half-shaft" type drive rod , through bearings, up to the lnb plate ?? ..... still in thought mode over this as to which will work out best for me :)
