The only news is that I finally got an HD ready TV to try the HD. The connection was really easy, and the picture is very good. The thing is, sometimes it is difficult to see the difference between SD and HD , the <<sd picture is also very very sharp. Compared to my old 5620 Dreambox it has a much better SD picture.

Also, I had a play with the dreamboxedit program, as well as the DCC and with both I managed to put on the buquets from my other dreambox, so I don't need to rescan everything.

Apparently there is an image with cam that is working, and will be made available to testers in 10 days or so.

There are no new bugs as there is not that much I can check - all the basic stuff works, once in a while it needs a restart but nothing that is not expected.

I updated my firmware today for Qbox HD, now enigma2 version stands at 19.2.2009.

But i havent been able to find any sat channels with any of the search options and i have Dreambox etc experience from the very beginning of the 7000 days.
Terrestial channels are working.

Menu shows the sat tuner ok.

And looks like Dreamset 2.21 does not work properly with Qbox HD; channels get sent ok but enigma2 does not reboot, turning the Qbox HD off does not store the channels sent.

Who wants to buy a Qbox HD ;-)

I have had no problems at all with searching for channels on all satellites...

Also, when playing with dreamboxedit:
After I load up the channels I simply press deep standby, and the box restarts and the changes are in.

Try Dreambox control centre for enigma2 (google for it).

I did not succeed in completely transferring enigma 1 settings to the qbox with dreamboxedit, but I had no problem at all inserting a lamedb file from a DB 800 into the etc/enigma folder via FTP, and then shutting down the box with the on/off switch at the back. When you reboot it had 10000 channels in.

_http://www.fileuploadx.de/807379

Try it out, but you must be doing something wrong for it not to scan the channels.

I don't think he wants to sell it, localchap. Also, they are Betaboxes and are not for sale anyway imho.

All the boxes sold at the moment are beta boxes. But there is movement - the proper packing and instruction booklet are finished, I got the pictures from the qboxforum.com

Well, from what I know it is not proper sales, but who knows. I would suggest to wait a bit longer.

And a little bit of news: I have just downloaded an MBOX EMU for the Qboxhd, and I will be playing with it.

I'm still waiting to get on the HD bandwagon, i hope this might be the box for me, but the bold part upsets me a bit. If i'm not seeing a definite difference between SD and HD i'll get a bit crossed.
Great review! Keep going.

You can defo see a difference, it is much sharper and it seems the colours are better. But I only got a rather smallish courtesy HD ready TV in my living room at the moment, and I have the feeling it only does 540P, whereas my 42" has a better resolution - we will see when I get the TV back in a week or so.

Currently my tv is a 37" panasonic plasma, can only handle 720p and 1080i, but still the SD picture from my ipbox 250s is very good. So, sometimes when walking on the highstreet and watching bigger and better lcds\plasmas running HD content i just don't get the wow factor. Bluray really makes a difference, it's top notch, but on HD tv programs i feel it's missing something.

I just posted some news about the official image update in the beta test thread. I will be playing with it and report - but in the German forum they have good results with all sorts of cards and sharing. Watch this space :)

Kathi dual tuner ufs922 now has enigma2 running.

h**p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLwsPOSJ-9E

£500 seems very pricey to me.

How much is QBox HD with DvT tuner, can you order DVBT-2? Freeview HD will be starting some time next year?????????????

Next update:
In the meantime there have been more releases of official images, as well as new updater tools and EMU images.
At the moment I am uploading the latest image released today. The good news are that we already got EMUs working via blue button - unfortunately it did not make the channels work - although I have heard that using the qbox as a server for CS is working.

Early days but there is progress. The text below shows all the changes that they have made to the official image:

OK guys, here is an update on things with the Qbox HD (things I have picked up here and there, some I have tried and some are still to be tested)

It seems one of the things that I wanted to know was if cardsharing was possible. I can confirm that I had this evening managed to connect to a cccam server using incubuscamd. It has to be said that psykix of jkf did all the work on this, I only pestered him to explain what he did and making sure I can get it to work.
At the moment one can only connect to CS servers, and not act as one but I believe that will be sorted in time.

Another bit of news is that the WIFI is being looked at - I managed to configure it and it found my home network - unfortunately it is still quite unstable and the box started to crash whenever the network settings were looked at. But this is the first image they dealt with this, so I am waiting for some software improvements. I am not aware of anyone else getting further ahead with this, but lets wait and see.

It is possible to swap the internal USB stick (1G) to a larger capacity one, this operation is fairly easy and improves the performance of the box, especially related to the menus.

The latest image also started to solve the problem of the standby, as well as the volume control. Faster zapping has been claimed, I am not too sure.

Recording to an USB stick has been tried, but the playback does not function yet. Also connecting a SATA HD has been dealt with, but not too much to report.

Hopefully some more news soon :)

I sent my Qbox HD back to Duolabs cos i could not make the satellite tuner to find any channels, in any setups we tested at my other friend´s places.
Terrestial tuner was working ok though, not much of a concellation... :)

Lets see if i get a working box back or if my money gets returned...

I never had problems with the tuner - but I don't scan any channels at the moment I just FTP all the settings in one go for all satellites. As I am changing the images so frequently it does not make sense to scan.

Let me know what happens with your qbox/tuner
