I am having a Rover Scout S2 satellite meter. I would like to get license key. Meter given to me by my friend. I sent emails to Rover and got automated response that they are on holiday till 20th August! On 20th the automated reply stopped but I am yet to get any reply from them. How long it generally takes for them to atleast respond?

Will they give license key if I am able to supply the Meter Serial number or do I need to provide some proof of buying along with it? Time is running out fast before the software stops working.

I've just bought a Rover sdm2 but have no computer lead or manual. I would be willing to buy one if you can advise please. I'm just a new home user enthusiast and any help would be greatly appreciated.

As rolfw rightly suggests it's at _http://www.roverinstruments.com/uk/strumenti/elenco_prodotti_at.asp?id_cat=62&menuaperto=1 where you register and download the SMART software to update transponders. If you want the firmware (latest I think is V 1.10 on boot screen) you need to email a request to service at ROVER.

I assume you've got a lead already as that's the only way I know to update this meter.

I also meant to ask does anyone know the exact power charger i need for this meter as i lost mine somehow,i see it says 12 v ac or 16 v dc but the correct ma etc would really help in buying 1 thanks.

I don't do the chips any more I just had a few spare. The lead is £25 as one offs. If you want to make one I get mine made but can say the pin out is already posted in this thread and the chip for the interface is a MAX202CSE to step up from the meter voltage to PC.

My charger says output 12V AC 1000ma

I will get a chip but does anyone have the actual schematic of how it all goes together,ie the null modem cable and phone cable to the chip.

It's not a null modem cable, it's a DB9 connector on one side of the chip and the "phone" cable on the other to the meter. As I said the pin out is posted above but it's here now!

Hi i got a charger for 5 quid from tait components but it still refuses to charge my meter,

It says SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY
primary.100V-240V--60/50Hz 0.25A
Sec.....3/4.5/5/6/7.5/9/12Vdc - 1A

I,ve set it to 12 volts but will not charge the meter but the green light is on with the meter so i,m wondering if its a faulty battery or the wrong charger.

Can anyone post the exact outputs from an original charger for the sdm-2 please.

I,m guessing i will have to change this out for a 16vdc charger
