Dr.Roamtic,

I don't know eather, as I said before I had a 3.1 meter meash dish in Dahab (Sinai). In fact it was 2 diffrent dishes made into one and not very well, it was held together with string and gaffer tape and no one knew what we were doing. but I did mannage to get almost as much as I do now in Cairo on a 2.4 meter solid dish. (no EPG though), so with a good dish and some one who know what they ard doing you should get somthing, might need a bit bigger then 3 meters though.

Thank you Robbie for your valuable and great Info. I guess we can use your info as a benchmark for this area. I am not sure is Egypt or Jordan closer to the Astra Footprint. I cannot read the footprint maps until now.

Egypt is closer to 28.2° than Jordan.
In Amman-Jordan with a 1.8 solid dish, you can receive all southern beam in addition to some "S1" and north beam transponders.

BTW, how much is the 2.4 dish in Egypt?

Regards

Thanks Robiewright for the info :)
2.4m are only not available in Jordan. I've sent the manufacturer an email enquiring about price+shipping costs but no response yet.

Thanks again m8

Ayman,

You might be better off looking in Cyprus. 2.4m is the maximum size you can get here and quality isn't very good. I have a friend in Cyprus who has a 4.1m good quality dish and he gets everything.

By the way, do you have Sky+? I just upgraded and am having problems playing back. Ive started a new thread on this problem.

Home in Ireland is standard Sky Ireland set up (Pace box and 80cm? mesh dish)
House in Israel is old YES dish but need to advice

Hi guys,

Have spent quite a bit of time browsing this thread and this seems to be the most likely source of a solution to my problem.

I am a subscribed customer of Sky Ireland, full package with all the bells and whistles and recently upgraded to Sky+.

Problem is I have been posted to Israel for the next 18 months. Family are joining in two weeks and the kids especially will miss their programmes.

I have been offered YES (Israeli satellite) but don't know anything about it - any ideas?

Willing to outlay on the necessary equipment but only if there is some chance of success.

Apologies if this is going over old ground but confused. :confused

Yes is the israeli equivalent of sky.it has a similar digibox and set up to sky.Varied entartainment including movie channels, sports, music, cartoons, documentaries, bbc prime and a mixture of jewish/russian language etc We have had them over here and its about 600 dollars a year.should be cheaper in israel.

Thanks Zorba.

Probably will have to go with YES.

I have been browsing different threads and it seems to me that Astra 2D and 2B are out of the question here in Southern Israel, even if I put a flying saucer on the roof! :-doh!

Just by way of minor correction so as not to confuse others, being jewish is a religeous vocation and the language spoken in Israel is known as Hebrew

It is amazing really that over the last 10-15 years the Hebrew heard on the street has definitely got a Russian twang to it due to the large influx of Russian immigrants who have been absorbed so the phrase I did not find unusual. If you were referring to cultural aspects i.e jewish/russian culture then the original phrase would have been correct, but what do I know I am only an IT geek

That explains why on Yes tv you have a choice of hebrew or russian audio and subtitles on most of the channels.
