It is irritating but the Sky boxes are designed to be left in standby (with an optional "eco" mode where it will shut down at night when no one is using it and boot up again into standby in the morning) so the vast majority will never experience the delays expect when rebooting the box.Either way, a box that takes 5 mins to boot????
The problem I have with the box is I don't get very good reception of the EPG transponder (11.778V) in Finland these days so the box appears to be continuously hunting for the EPG data and keeps the hard drive spinning even when in standby. This means the box gets rather warm and wasting electricity, so I tend to force it to power down when I'm not using it (hold the power button on the remote until the light starts flashing slowly) and this stops the hard drive but it does mean having to wait a few minutes every time I want to watch something on Sky...
