I've got a Yi dashcam, I think they are something to do with Xiaomi, A spinoff or something. Yeah that's a great bit of kit and could not be happier with it.

Yeah some of their product ranges have different names, they do a lovely precision screw driver set that has the torx bit security screw heads ect under a different name for example.

The hammer drill has a SDS chuck, but! This drills only 18V 1.5Ah, Only one battery and from what I read only one gear. The impact driver looks ok but says "3-5 hour charger".

Ever buy something and expect it to be rubbish, but actually turns out to be incredible?

That's what happened to me with my latest purchase, decided to get something hands-free for delicate soldering work etc, I normally use a loupe for such things but fancied trying something a bit better.
Got these on Amazon, could not be happier. Honestly not your normal cheap tat. Optics are pretty good, comfortable and lots of adjustments.

LED Head Wearing Magnifying Glass with with 5 Detachable Magnifying Lens for Jewelry Clock Repair Close Work 1.0X 1.5X 2.0X 2.5X 3.5X with Clean Cloth https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BMMRKY9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kClYAb5QV87S2
Do they fit over normal prescription glasses?

My Bosch Pro-spec 18V drill/driver and impact driver 1.5Ah batteries still charge in <1hr after 3yrs - you get what you pay for, especially in terms of battery-operated tools

I would imagine so as the lenses can push forward and backwards, I have prescription glasses so will try it out and report back.

That's a bit of an odd drill, it reminds me of the Ikea one which has an SDS Chuck too.
FIXA Hammer drill, li-ion 14.4 V - IKEA

That IKEA thing looks cr#p, The Aldi drill reminds me of the DeWalt 24V SDS chisel drill we had on the vans. I don't understand why their (Aldi) taking a step backwards with the battery capacity on these upcoming units and also the charger time on the impact driver is plain daft these days.

Magnetic tool holders are back in.

Also lots of 3M double sided tape, so stocked up.

Thanks - bought 4x tool holders and a roll of that tape.
Another (bigger??) cross-cut mitre saw coming in around the end of next week - looks to be from the same OEM as the one I bought a few weeks ago but may be a little larger AND twice the price (£79.99)

Went to sharpen my Flymo mower blade this morning, and found that my combined Nutool (so it must 10+yrs old) 6" grinder & Sander wouldn't start up (motor gone!). This is the bench tool that I probably use more than any other, and definitely needs to be replaced.

Went looking on-line for replacement, and found that most come with 230/240W motors, but my experience with the Nutool was that a motor of that rating sometimes has trouble starting - especially in cold weather - and so I went looking for one with a higher rating. Finally found this 370W Draper 05096 on the Robert Dyas site for £84.99 inc delivery (which is about what many of the 230/240W ones sell for elsewhere) - gets good reviews on Amazon and so on but there you pay over £100, and so ordered from Robert Dyas.

Edited: Duh!!! I signed up for their newsletter at the same time I bought the Draper, but now I have received a "thanks for signing up" email - with a 10% discount code for my first order! So, if I had signed up BEFORE I placed the order and then waited a few minutes to get the code email then I could have used the code to save around another £8.50!:-doh

You could cancel the order (allowed under cooling off legislation) then reorder with code.

Maybe a new set of brushes would do the trick?

Unfortunately I don't think as it "hums" loudly when I apply the power and so I think it's an induction motor where some windings have finally shorted (and, FWIW, the bearings aren't seized because I can manually turn the shaft).
