Testing New White Sky UK Card - CAID 963

The Sky box must be on for 24 hours before trying the card swap.

You may well need to ring Sky to get it sorted out now.

Did you insert the OLD card for at least 24hours before inserting the new card? That is what the accompanying letter says has to be done. Some peops say it has to be even longer sometimes.

@ralphmango I got that message when I left it in my TM for too long. I left it in the sky box for about 8 hours on Sky2 and it reactivated.

I can confirm that the card dosent update with the following

My entitlements ran out yesterday and the card had to go back into the slybox to reinitalise.)(-red though they are now showing until mid november.

@Dr Chasm, please can you share your newcs.xml contents hopefully 1 of us can make sense of why your card updated.

edit - just picked up from another site that those settings are reported working using mgcam and newcs. The suggestion is to leave it overnight every night on a channel from the 11.778 transponder

thanks for the information.
yes the box as well as other boxes were all on for 24/7.
the other cards all updated but this one.
i will put the new card in and leve the card in to see if it acitvates

well guy if you want to wait up to 24hours you can, or you can do it in 10 mins
Just put the card back into the oringinal S£y box and do a new install, from the service Installer menu, It will some times report it has failed to do the new install dont worry as by this point the card has been update, and its back to Dream or Debian for her.

I already had boxid in the config from the old card of course - when i realised that the "new" box id was actually <boxkey> in the newcs config; i thought why not leave both in as it didn't stop things working - they are, after all, two different xml tags.

not that i know if that is what causes entitlements to update for me.

I don't think that newcs blocks C0 unless its specified. It might allow the update.

Can anybody help, just got my white card working using newcs and cccam although now what is happening is its constantly using the shares not the local card. Is there any way to force it to use the local card before it goes off the the shares.

Due to using newcs both local and shares are on 1 hop

any help will be appreciated

you have to add the following line to your /etc/CCcam.prio:
P: 0963:0961

This will force CCcam to look for 0963 before 0961. By default it seems it looks for 0961 before 0963

though I'd all ready tried that, as my card is white (963) the other is still a blue card (961) although I'm wondering now if i've typed it in correctly or named the file correctly (i'll also make sure its in the correct place). My problem will reappear when the other card is updated to a white card as well.

I did have some success with the sid option in cccam 2.1.2 but my niabilo image only gives me the option of newcs+cccam 2.1.1.

Is it possible to update the cccam only when its been installed as a joint option with newcs?

Just put the N line at the top of your CCcam.cfg before any other servers. This usually solves the problem.

I've had a close look at the newcs-default.xml which is a file included with every release of NewCS. This file details all the parameters that can be used in the newcs.xml file. It does not list <boxid> as a current parameter. As mentioned this may be replaced by <boxkey> . Either way its not used and therefore definatley not doing anything in this scenario.

I've setup my test box (DM7025) on to my NewCS server using MGCamd as the client. I'll leave it on and see if anything happens with the card entitlements.

no mate, no update yet. My 0961 is also well into November. Interesting point to add though, we had a second box / card in the pub on a 12 month deal. The card was replaced a few months ago with a new white one. It was working fine using current methods. Entitlements show October xxth but the 12 month deal ran out at the end of september. The point I'm making is this, even though the card had good entitlements sly still killed it somehow. We have renewed the 2nd box deal as it's still available but they are sending a new card AGAIN. interesting.... Don't think your card is good until the date shown in entitlements , as this shows it's not ruled by that !

suspected as much :-(. waiting for the "installer" to get here. turned the 7020 into a server with smargo and running the blue one on it. should be just a case of swapping cards in a few hours

If I understand you right mate, you can't put the white card in a smargo. It won't run it. Do not put it in your internal in a DM7020, it will defo nuke it !

thanx for the heads-up. no way was i going to use the internal reader on the sd box. smargo won't run a 0963????? caught me off guard cause i have friends swearing that it does. 4 sure it runs the 093b from italy. i'll report back with the test asap then. i always have the 800 option but was hoping to use external reader

If you have an 800 mate, then just use the omnikey. Read my tutorial on installing it or checkout shumifan50's installer script.

The sly italia 093b does work fine in a smargo but I've tried everything to run the 0963 in a smargo it doesn't even show the CAID. Please do let me know if you find out otherwise.
