The greatest and best rock group in the world?

You make some good points, I had to ponder over it for a while, as like a lot of people, there are many bands that I like. I just decided which was, in my opinion, the best.
It seems that quite a few people can't decide.
It's down to the individual to decide which in their opinion, is "The Best rock group in the World", for what ever reason they seem fit. We decided to add the option "can't decide-too many good bands" specifically for those who could not decide on any particular band.
The voting has really taken off and considering that it's only in day three, the topic/poll has had over a thousand views and yet the percentage of people who have voted is very low. Perhaps people are still thinking about it?
Here's looking forward to the coming days, we'll see if Queen can hang on to the lead. They look strong at the moment.

Saw Bruce Springsteen at Bramall Lane Sheff, for 4 hours this guy was awesone no fancy lights nothing, just pure RocknRoll this could be heard in Doncaster which is twenty miles away. Every one was Dancing in the streets and mean that!

loads of bands i think are brilliant,each the best in their own way.I like to see the artists put some effort in to what they are playing.The best guitar solo i ever seen is lindsay buckingham on the fleetwood mac-the dance dvd.absolute brilliance!!

I agree, but people's opinions as to who qualifies as a rock band do vary a tad, so we included whoever people said was their favourite.

Did anyone here consider the band Living Colour when they were a bit younger

Vivid for me was always a stormer, but then they went somewhat OTT with reunions with old pals and the original ideas went to pot.

As for real groups, probably for me is Floyd since they have been around for yonks, but I would also put Killing Joke up near the top for sheer genius and singles that hit the mark

I think that it's just a case that the original list was put up with obvious candidates and only added to with definite "number one" choices, so if they didn't fit into the obvious candidate or personal number one, then they didn't go on there.

Interesting to see that their vote took a hike subsequently as well.

I guess that often out of sight, is out of mind, take Dire Straits for instance, nobody even mentioned them, but what a great band.

I saw Napalm Death back in 1986 and Metallica around the same time.

But I'd say Nirvana were the greatest band- why aren't they on the list?!!

No problem mate, but what happens is people have a favourite, but also think that someone else should be on the list, even though they don't want to vote for them. As explained, it isn't meant to be the definitive list of every great rock band, just the ones which people are prepared to vote for as their best.

I could have easily added bands like Foreigner, or Dire Straits, but as I am one of the "Too many great bands to choose one" people, didn't do it.
