well its been a while since i installed the dish..still getting good results in all weathers.....i keep going back to BADR for a nosey...find that the channels are only 28-31% with quite a bit of break up over the receivers (DARKBOX 2007) threshold of 30%.

Decided to have a play and put my old Lidl 0.6 LNB on the dish in stead of the Strong LNB which i bought and installed with the dish....

~What an improvement....6-8% signal increase....now have the MBC channels rock steady...today is sunny with lots of passing cloud...so a reasonalbe day to test. the other sats seem to have a better to even better reception too..........never thought to play with LNBs before....all i need now is to try the Inverto as mentioned in post above........i also noted that the lnb adapter gets a little waterlogged in the bottom recess which meant the Strong lnb was going to get flooded eventually in the two breather holes...the breather hole on the Lidl lnb is clear of the holder....so..despite my thrombosis and climbing the blinkin ladder again i feel well pleased......but disapointed the Strong 0.2lnb isnt quite a match for the 85cm dish.....again thanks to all at satellites co uk for inputs on a wide range of topics...great site...must use it more though..

I've been using the Inverto and had results up to expectations, but haven't really tried many others I'm afraid.

thanks guys...perhaps i'm just hoping...but trying to push the lnb in a bit more and lifting the front just a tad i get 2-3% more quality....this brings in BADR weaker sats in better on a low cloudy day...seems to stop the occasional breakup.....also i can acutally receive TP on 23.5E now.....a footy channel is stronger and for the first time i get 40% +/- on other TP's off that sat!!! so i know there is more to be gained (pardon the pun).

i dont want to cut and mod the lnb holder just yet..but i am convinced that a more suitable lnb would match the dish better and give me the coulple of percent strength i need to just bring in things better, or things not seen!

could you quote me an actual model number please guys.....then i can perhaps get rid of this Lidl 0.6 lnb which is better than the strong i bought. i guess the strong is too "strong" at clamping adjacent channel interference whilst killing overall signal strength? been a good lnb but the Fplug connecter on it is um...threaded.....! too much playing around

I have looked for lauro2008's recommendation of Inverto IDPL-40SL+..but not avail in uk.

i see the fracarro 0.5 lnb is a better shape for the lnb holder than the strong...so should be able to push in a bit more !

also lookingin into a smart titanium second edition!! but reading the post here
http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...ew-c120-feedhorn-vs-smart-titanium-lnb-f.html

post #8...i see the lidl is alledged to be better!! lol maybe ill just mod the lnb holder instead....although i really cant get my head around this noise factor.....when my 0.6 silvercrest (lidl) lnb is way better than the strong 0.2.......might just slacken everything off on the dish and realign with the lidl lnb.....

LIDL LNB =
SilverCrest Universal Single LNB, model IP 401. Suitable for standard offset satellite dish with 40mm holder.
Low band: 10.70-11.70 GHz
High band: 11.70-12.75 GHz
Noise factor: 0.6dB
Amplification: 55dB

Thanks for those info but I still think that the best comparison is between Inverto single IDLP-40SL+ 0.2dB and Invacom twin (not single) SNH-031 0.3dB.

I got both but I still have to find the best alignment with the Inverto.

Good luck to us :):):)

with my dish pack i had four halves of a ring, which together would enable a smaller lnb to fit into the holder...cant remember the size anyway, two pair were thin and two were thick (like me lol!)

i found the best position for my strong lnb was using the two smaller adapters...and that the best position for the lidl was only using one fat adapter....sit the lnb in the actual lnb holder and use a fat one on top to clamp into position....just the lnb design means i can't push it in a millimetre or two more...so may try shaving off bits of the fat lnb adapter.

weather should be good tomorrow, dry but cloudy...so i will peak up my realigned dish (now with 5w as southern sat (was 1w)) and then swing to badr to peak up the lnb setting. All other sats are really good, apart from 23.5e german channels which are non existant or weak and very erratic...when i had a play last week i did manage to bring in LigTV :)

not going to try too hard...but would be nice to peak badr tp so that quality just holds better in more cloudier conditions.

Considerations:

-Cloudy sky with Invacom and clear sky with Inverto which means the Invacom data must improve even more;
-Thanks to Invacom I can get more channels/frequencies;
-Invacom loses a bit of Level% but gains a lot of Quality%
-Even the Diablo EMU seems to be faster
-Invacom is much heavier than Inverto which means it might be positive in case of rain and wind.
-I'm now sure that a Penta85 gains like a 100cm;)

So the Invacom SNH-031 twin 0.3dB IS THE WINNER !!!:):):)

and I'm flipping happy !!!:toke::toke::toke:
