i have pci card tbs 6925s used software crazyscan same time ebs pro
i have also satlnk ws 6932 new spctrum anayzer
when astra 2f active i use satlink ws

I see. Power level can be a hint but frequency? Nope... they can use any frequency on any beam now.
Besides that I think at solly's location, nothing but the PE beam should be receivable anyway. The UK spot beam wont make it down there, even when 15°off to the east.

What? Don't you think with a 3.5m dish a 3dB ripple on the spectrum is not possible? Also you are assuming it is pointing 15º further east but that's just assumption. And for all we know Solly could be receiving the Africa beam, after all it encompasses 30ºE when the satellite arrives at the final location so 15º more would mean the beam stretches to 45ºE.

could you explain what +8dB stands for (what is 0dB ? ) ?
From my vague recollections at college, when related to power a 3dB increase doubles power and 10dB gives a 10 fold increase, when related to voltage a 6dB/20dB increase gives 2 or 10 fold increase. As dB is a relative term it is normally used as dBm for power with 0dBm being 1mW and 0dbuV for 1uV. The relationship between power and voltage varies depending on the impedance being used, I suspect 75 Ohms for satellite most of my calibration was with 50 Ohm equipment. 0dB on its own means not a lot and not sure about noise floor of a spectrum analyser as the noise level goes up and down. Please feel free to correct this as it has been a very long time since I sat in a RF lab.

But of course the beam will make it there. Solly has a large dish, plus 2f's location in much further East.
Imagine the original footprint, but shifted another 17 degrees or so further east.

Yes they can use pretty much any freq, that's the entire point as it was only meant to be a low power test.
They were only meant to be tx'ing on low power in the first place.

More than likely the people in charge decided to give it the full beans lol

11050V +12dB
11648H +17dB

TBH, I think Solly is probably right with many of his beam predictions. Although we know the satellite can map any frequency to any aerial it makes sense that they do the lion share of the testing in the configuration the satellite will be used in. That way SES can be certain that once the satellite arrives at its intended location it will simply be a matter of switch 1N off and 2F on, and know it's going to work without any hiccups.

11035H +12dB

This is on and off at a stable power level. Solly can you see this? Anyone else give it a punt?

11866V +27dB powerhouse.

i back tomorow monring to 43.5e
i need to stay 13 e
keep update freinds

Looks like I'm the only one left posting reports then.

..................... but not the only one reading them! :excl:

11648V +16dB

Would have loved to have seen some other reports on 11035V, but it's off now. :-downt

i heard that this satellite has not made it to its final possion.it is moving at 1.5 degrees per day. that's 622 miles per 24 hour.
it should be up for tests and power by or about 15 nov 2012.
lynsat does not even conver anything on 2f as of yet.

It is currently testing at 43.5E and has been there for the last 3 weeks. And it does appear on Lyngsat.

(Yes, there really is an echo in here ^-J )

so why would one want to test something before it reaches its final position.they may not have activated its power to full power or use the lobe they are supposed to use.
Ralph

Because testing it in its final position when virtually all available frequencies are already in use for DTH Services would cause chaos.

hello, here is some information on 2f and 43 degrees.
hope this helps.
