Those that are using spectrum meters to make any assessment of the new signal, please can you post all measurement parameters; dBuV, SNR, CNR, MER, post / pre BER if anything.

Yes, I'll post later. By the way it's no good looking at Lyngsat or King-of-sat because their transponder list seems to have no relation to what is actually being transmitted in band D from those two satellites.

Thanks for the tip, if you didn't have one I was thinking about creating one from King-of-sat which I think is better than Lyngsat.

But I guess the best thing to do is go to the Sat operators web site and the official info.

You've saved me a load of time.

11053 is still working fine. It's not changed to 2F it's still on 1N.

I read it had changed but for sure not.

11053 still strong and fine. For sure it's still on 1N.
Yes, here in the Eastern England - I'm getting EXACTLY the same readings on 11053 (95% & 65%signal) as another BBC HD transponder. Odd.

Since today the signal even increased a little here :)

SES is fine tuning the footprint, I guess.

I don't know how many earth stations they can rely on but, if they are fine tuning, they could really thank all the reports on this forum (as do I) for helping them cutting out some more unwanted areas :-cry1 . They already performed tests at 43°E to figure out the factual footprint; if they are still not relocating all the TPs I really think they are currently tuning. Btw, what is the reason in your opinion for the signal strenght swing during the day on the fringe areas?

bye

Any Icelandic fishermen on a boat with gyroscopic controlled dishes on the forum?? :D

Seriously I wouldnt have thought there would be many problems in Iceland as the island is more on less on the NW-SE axis of decent reception.

no i mean making it higher power in iceland so taking the power away from the south

why isn't the paneuropean beam tested yet? the majority of channels should be broadcast from that, unless ses and sky have changed plans.
For the PSB channels there are many other ways to watch them for those who cannot get the signal

Probably because the spotbeam is the most important one for several of SES-Astra's major customers. (BBC / ITV / C4 & possibly the mickey mouse C5O) If theres a mistake on that beam there are major problems to be overcome.

At the end of the day it doesnt really matter what the coverage across Europe is like on the PE beam as viewers there are outside the official coverage area.

Would be a big surprise if we're actually watching 2F_PE_beam and the spot beam still has come up :D

If they have decided to call it paneuropean beam,it should have relevance to test if the coverage is as predicted

Could be my equipment as I don't have SS sub, so never normally scan or use that TP.

EDIT - it was.... false alarm :-wow...... like Sky were going to move a SS TP anyhow to a narrow beam...

Never seen that strength on 2A. So it looks like going up to a 1m dish would be acceptable here.

I've done further tuning after loss of signal earlier today.
The dish has now got one single LNB and I don't think it's possible to get it any better with the signal meter on the Foxsat (not the PVR version).
-> I can see the TV from the dish.
LNB skew is also optimized - and makes a huge difference.

Astra 2A 11720H quality 90%
Astra 2F 11023H quality 60%
Astra 2D used to be 90% on a clear day - and was almost never out due to normal rain.

Current antenna gain is close to 37 dBi at 11.7GHz (valid for a Triax TD78)
-> And this is currently not big enough for a wet day, that is if the rest of the channels will be similar when they move.

The big question now is: How big a dish to order?
TD88 is +2dB of gain
TD110 is +3dB of gain
1.2m (134x120cm) is +5.5dB of gain

What is the recommended fading margin?
