Here is what I now use to convert .TS to MPEG. Its a little app that does the job quite fast compared to others which I have tried. I am not into DivX yet so cannot comment on that part.
On Ku, unfortunately the hotbirds that have most of the adult stuff does not cover the South Indian Region. But there is Free-X on Insat 2E at 83E on the C-band. You should be able to get it on a 6 foot dish. There are also the soft core stuff on ST1 at 88E on C-band which again can be...
Where can I get the firmware for Starsat SR-X5000 MKII? It is listed in the temporary Starsat Files site http://www.fastpages.com/receivers/ but the link says file is missing. I would be thankful if someone could point me to another link, upload it here or email it to me on jhncruiser@yahoo.com
I assumed you upgraded your box using the serial port (com1 or com2 on your PC). If this is the case then your com port should be okay.
DVBEdit is designed to work with DVB2000 only and it will not work with the Nokia firmware. It will certainly work on Windows 2000. One reason it may not...
Transbox is intended for firmware and bootlaoder. For channel data transfer, use a program like DVBEdit. Apart from channel editing, a lot more could be done with this program. You can find it at http://www.coolstf.com/dvbedit
I have this Magix MGX-7210VA receiver which has built in Viaccess and a card reader. As I dont like the firmware on it I want to change it to a better one. I have searched the net for the receiver but it seems this particular model of Magix is not at all common. After a lot effort I have now...

Nokia Serial Download Server (and Transbox) works only with Windows 98. I tried many settings with XP but does'nt seem to work. So if you have been using XP, give it a try using Win98.
In my experience, the Serial Download Server method (on Win98 of course) is very reliable and worked 100%...
You will need a 50-pin high density cable and a SCSI card on your PC. Adaptec 2930 is a proven and reasonably priced card that works well with the Nokia.

There is no need to upgrade to 2.4 first. You could go straight to DVB2000. The thing to watch is the bootlaoder. You could check this if you observe the display during startup. If you see something like B2.00UnS you could load the firmware via serial interface.
If you do not have B2.00UnS...
With regard to your first question, I saw a similar problem on a 9450 where the display shows something when powered up and then changes to a little dot. It does not boot up and stays like that. I tried to fix it by installing the latest firmware available but it did not get any better. I saw...
