Well you need to align the dish/motor assembly.

As said, the later pics of your dish show it being too low, so set it back to 22.5 as a starting point.

Then, you need to trim the azimuth (direction) of the system by moving the entire motor/dish assembly around the mounting pole and you need to trim the dish elevation by making small adjustment to the dish bracket.

But if you've got everything else apart from the initial dish bracket angle more or less ok, it's likely that you'll start to get a signal by altering the dish bracket alone.

Once you've found the Satellite, then you need make only very small adjustments to get optimum Strength and Quality.

I suggest that you stop for now and consult all the guides previously linked so you are clear in your own mind what you are about to do.

Cripes, that was quick.

Scan that Transponder and make sure BBC World comes up.

If it does, you've proved you are on the correct Satellite and need only make further very small adjustments as stated in my previous Post.

Edit: This Thread is playing havoc with my forlorn attempts to trim the hedges!

Please do.

We are a self-help Forum, so now you've got the hang of it (It seems) the rest is up to you. ie Optimising alignment, learning how to use your Receiver, checking all other Satellites of interest, etc.

But of course if you get really stuck, someone will be around to advise.

Not got time to check, but you can check received Channels against published lists on various sites such as _flysat.com, _lyngsat.com and _kingofsat.net

Have a look at one of them and you'll be able to work out what Satellite you've actually got and then adjust the dish accordingly.

The fact that you are getting anything at all is a major success .................................. :)

No ........... BBC World News

I refer you to the listings sites linked in my last Post.

Edit: Telenor are associated with Thor, so I suggest to prove things you carry out an Auto Scan (or Blind Scan) to see what else comes up.

Sounds like a result .......... Channel numbers are largely irrelevant as you can move and delete Channels at will once you've scanned.

Just so I can go to lunch happy, give us the names of a couple of other Channels you've found. Ones that you can actually see a picture for, that is.

Yup. That appears to be Thor alright!

_http://www.flysat.com/1west.php

Hint: When giving Channel info, try to give some other parameters too eg

DDTV 12643 H 27500

That generally helps enormously.

Sounds like you might be nearly ready to try another Satellite.

Try Hotbird at 13E and/or Astra 2 at 28E

If you get both of those without further ado, then you've struck lucky!

Laminas 1.2M fibre dish with an IBU, on a Clarke Tech USALS motor, covering 57E - 24.5W to an Octagon SX88. Displayed on a 20" Dyon LED TV.

Seperate 80 cm dish on 28E with a Humax Freesat for SWMBO.
Free Sat V8 meter. Sony Bravia 46" LCD, Sony BluRay and Home Cinema.

Yes, you have successfully aligned the dish to your due south sat.

:-party1

Now, apart from taking a break for lunch or going down the pub to celebrate, you may want to try and scan for more satellites. I'd suggest Astra2 at 28.2°E and maybe Hispasat at 30°W. If you get channels from both satellites it would suggest you are tracking the arc ok. You can of course then finely adjust the dish to maximize the signals all along the arc.

Oh, and please check that pole, if it isn't plumb you will be even more frustrated by the poor results you may get.

Edit : Seems great minds think something alike!
