Bonjour, mon brave.

I think the worst of the snow is up in the north of Scotland, but milder conditions across the UK are bringing drizzle and mist.

Went to get new boots fitted to SWMBOs voiture this morning and it was dank and vaguely warm in Northallerton.

So, a bit of a change from yesterdays dankness and vague warmness in Northallerton. :):)

Or was it a reference to the local brew? On second thoughts that's probably Theakstons, so it can't be!!

Yes, I've just suggested SWMBO leave work pronto as it's snowing heavily and building up quickly on the ground ............. that said, as I type it is easing and turning back to rain (of which we've had a lot overnight).

Never mind - winter conditions mean we are having Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas followed by Spotted Richard for our evening meal. Yum.

The waters around SE of the UK and much of the North coast of France is currently undergoing gale (8) and severe gale (9) winds.

Sunday looks like a blast as well with something nasty coming up from the Azores in the next 48 hours.

Think the severe gales are what we had yesterday, though often we are too far inland to be over affected.

As to "something nasty coming up from the Azores", hopefully this isn't a prediction of the after effects of Tivu's previous posting about his evening meal. Ooohh Matron!!

We had/are having the above last night and this morning. Strong winds and driving rain. I guess it's heading your way, so be warned.

Bon gratin

Luckily the worst of all that seems to be skirting marginally to the south and east of us here in Yorkshire, nevertheless it is pretty darned soggy out there.

Much milder, apparently, tomorrow.

Good Moaning,

Just heard from a friend on Facebook (yes, I do know people other than on here!), that Newcastle Airport had heavy snow yesterday evening

Started raining at about midnight last night and it's still going.

The road from Hampton Court to Walton is about eight inches under water and rising.

And the worst is still to come apparently

It is the stormy time of year again. First the snow to soften up the ground, then the first barrage of rain heralding the forthcoming barbecue summer. :(

Having read on the BBC website of the havoc caused by "Xynthia" yesterday, I just wanted to let you all know I haven't blown away! Thankfully the dish is also unaffected and there are no trees down or electricity outages 'chez nous'.

Makes me wonder how I've got away so lightly though!!

Glad you escaped the ravages.

The area around La Rochelle where we were on holiday last year seems to have caught the brunt of it.

Bright sunshine here and temperature rising rapidly after a heavy overnight frost.

Seriously 'taters' here with a freezing strong easterly wind. That and the night frosts are stopping Alan raking out and re pointing the house gable end. I've consoled myself by ordering a posh, modern and quite expensive 'encastrable' (flush mounted with pipe work hidden in cavity wall) shower. It was much more expensive to buy in the UK!!!

As a side note (and vaguely related to the site purpose!!) all of our analogue transmitters in the department (50, Manche) are being turned off tomorrow.

Well i don't know about anybody else but i'm fearing for my dish at the moment as its bouncing up and down like a yo yo in the wind here. If it continues i think it may be needing a new motor this weekend.

Absoloutly no chance of me working off a ladder tomorrow :D

I have 3 High Rises to look at tomorrow, and i'm not going to even contemplate going on to the roof of any of them :confused

I got caught in Preston by the sudden storm and flash floods on 15 July 2010, 20mm of rain fell in less than 1 hour. Upon my return to Blackburn everywhere was dry and yet I could see the storm I had driven through 15 minutes before over towards Preston. The cloud formations were unusual so I took out my camera and started filming, true to form it was not long before we were engulfed by the storm with rain pelting down and bouncing 1 mtr high.

Tonight it is very high winds and showers

We have had some 'iffy' weather last day or two. Quite strong breezes and some sharp showers but nothing worthy of "battening down hatches'. Liked the video Topper, excellent quality. The car park was surprisingly empty though, was it Sainsbury's?

Just hope it remains settled here, as my new septic tank is being installed starting Monday. Now won't that make for exciting photo's!!

That is my new camera Pnasonic Lumix DMC ZS1 which is not HD video but WVGA, which is why the camera did not cost an arm and a leg
The car park is B & Q where I am going again now in an effort to solve a dispute
