No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Pea-soupers we called them.

That's what sulphurous coal does, makes everything all nasty and grim, hence why there's smoke control laws in place and cheap & nasty smokeless coal being sold (vile stuff, give me clean-burning wood any day!!!)... :-puke

It's currently lightly foggy outside, reminds me of the night I arrived at this house for the first time last november, it was freezing fog too so wasn't nice, so I guess if the freezing fog starts, winter has begun round here....

I'll probably be here in my bedroom waiting for the daylight to come, being stuck in a nocturnal sleep pattern, dunno how that affects the arrival of winter though... :confused

................... And now it is Snowing.

Not heavily, and it won't settle, but it's definitely the white stuff.

Definitely a tad colder here, the wind has shifted round to the North so I've given in and lit the Rayburn (having had my anthracite delivered this week).....just waiting for the dried and seasoned peasants to arrive now...

No idea, smoggy >>>>> Avoid it like the plague owing to a surfeit of grockles.

PS: Bright and shining now, and about 6 deg C: More or less as promised.

The BBC Weather Guesstimate site says that we're due snow later tonight, so fingers crossed... :D

Knowing this area, it'll probably arrive sooner, cos it's higher up, but for now it's somewhat sunny with manky looking clouds spattered about the place... O-Ha

Very good, especially as lampreys aren't strictly fish......I think we've diverted away from the thread enough now......

It was raining here this morning when we got up although it slightly cleared up this afternoon. Now there's thunder rolling around outside so we'll probably lose the satellite signal soon.

I no longer trust these weather forecasts, especially long term ones, I thought we were supposed to have had a great summer, according to some of last years forecasts, all I remember is rain, and an end to the hose pipe ban !!!!!!
Last winter seemed fairlly mild, at least from what I can recall.

Woken up to freezing fog round here, and the BBC news suggests there's a set of weather patterns merging over the pond.

Excellent news >>>>> Predictive track record means a wise man can look forward to a T-Short Winter, then!

Edit: Just ventured into the front room and opened the curtains and there is a light dusting of snow on the car and the roofs of the houses.Bu**er.
