Was laying in bed listening to the fishing programme on Talkshite earlier, they had a few reports of snow phoned in from Aberdeen, Oxted, Boreham Wood and Gatwick. I can see the clouds north of me towards LGW hustling along on in the northerly, reckons it's scuppered any chance of the garden getting cleared up today, what a result!

Typical: After Posting that pic a few minutes ago, I went out to feed the chickens (of which only two could be bothered to get out of bed) and found myself in a heavy (but mercifully brief) snowstorm. As SWMBO needs to go into town, I found myself sweeping one inch of snow off the car.

At least it isn't cold (3C).

Well I sometimes put her out.

(But she doesn't really catch fire that often)

Ive been down in the Malham area this weekend (Yorkshire Dales). Saturday was the most incredible day - sunshine bringing out all the autumnal colours on the moors. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful - and the bitingly cold wind was breathtaking as well. I stopped at the Malham Tarn carpark to take a few photos across the tarn at my old workplace of 25 years ago, and the wind was unbelievably cold.

Sunday we woke up to persistent rain, and when we walked up the footpath to the main house past my old accommodation we got drowned!

Just heard that HMS Bounty the tall ship has sent out a distress call and are worryingly close to the hurricane.

Just found this entry in the wiki about her

Hurricane Sandy forces HMS Bounty evacuation 29 October 2012 Nova Scotia-built replica floundering off North Carolina More than a dozen members of a Nova Scotia-built replica vessel are abandoning ship off the coast of North Carolina after getting caught in the high seas brought on by Hurricane Sandy.
Lt. Junior Grade Brendan Salerno, with the U.S. Coast Guard, told CBC News the 17-member crew of the tall ship HMS Bounty had decided to abandon ship after getting caught in 5.5-metre seas off Cape Hatteras.

"We have a Coast Guard Hercules C-130 aircraft on scene with the vessel. Right now the vessel has decided to abandon ship so right now we're working on rescue ideas," Salerno said Monday.

"We're trying to get one of our cutters underway and we're sending out some of our helicopters to try and get people that way as well."==References== CBC News

I know it`s the wrong kind of forum to be asking in but as a few of us on here are into Ham Radio or SWL`ing, has anyone heard anything on HF? I know 10 meters has been very active over the last few days but I`ve not got a radio set up to scan the bands

Might get one set up and see what the NOAA weather satellites are beaming back down

Just heard that HMS Bounty the tall ship has sent out a distress call and are worryingly close to the hurricane.

Various reports now say she sank a couple of hours after the crew abandoned ship. :(
