Although it's damp and mild this morning we've had about three days of constant (sometimes heavy) rain. It's actually quite depressing and I've had to resort to lighting the fire early and throwing on an extra peasant.......just to cheer things up....

A glorious sunny day this morning, I shall set the telescope up in the garden in a few minutes and project the image onto a piece of paper to look at the sunspots :)

I can't see how that would cheer the peasant up.

More bad news: SWMBO has found her way back home.

Is yours motorized AS? Refractor or reflector?

Refractor - nothing special, its just a basic little birding scope, but its easier with that on the tripod than trying to balance binocs on something!

I have a piece of white paper taped to a sheet of perspex

(usual warning here - NEVER look at the sun directly through binocs or a telescope - you will blind yourself - project the image onto a wall, piece of card, sheet of paper etc.)

Same here really celestron 100mm with the 45degree angled eyepiece-mainly for birding.

The mist has come and gone and come again all day here, so we took a small gambler and drove to the next village, leaving our own immersed in fog. Parked up and did a beautiful Autumnal walk at high (ish) level through some woods, returning along the valley bottom.

SWMBO took her Camera ....................

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Well, yesterday morning was lightly frosty, but this morning is foggy, and the highest temperature we'll apparently see up here in't north is about 10 degrees, (less for those of us residing around Pontop Pike!!), and looking at the BBC's weather guesses, could even be a severe deep freeze of -1 on the way in a few days... O-Ha

Oh, and clocks go back this weekend, an extra hour in bed for those without sleep disorders... :-rofl2

Foggy here all day too. Maximum visibility has been about 200 yards.

I was out with the telescope looking at 3 of Jupiters moons last night - what a change a few hours makes. :(

Yesterday was also supposed to be the peak of the 2012 Orionids (Halley comet debris), but looking at the sky at around 5 oclock, I really couldn't be bothered to open the roof hatch.

And I'll definitely be getting a large amount of gin in before Friday

Foggy here until late morning. This time of year in the 50's with these atmospheric conditions it would mean smog. Even in the relatively non-industrial area where I live, household chimney smoke would descend to street level. I remember going to school and not be able to ride my bike, not even being able to see the road kerb. Pea-soupers we called them.
