I can´t put it at ground level due to surrounding trees,
(not mine to cut down, and too many of them)
so Im probably going to get it up on the roof.

I just wanted a temp solution to test the motor and the dish.
I´ll see what I can come up with.

The cable I ment was the cable between the motor
and the box.

This is a pic of the back of the box, with the cable connected:

It´s a bit hard to read the text, but it reads:
GND PULSE +5V SH M1 M2

It´s some cord with 5 parts, 4 of which are connected to the box.
(The seller left it "as it was suposed to be")

Any idea what cable it is?

Peace,
/Per

Yes i know what cable you should use, you can use a four core signal cable that is shielded.

The important thing is that the "pulse" cable is shielded.

You can use either of these below depending how far it is to the antenna from the receiver, buy the 4-core shielded 0,75mm^2 cable:

http://www.elfa.se/elfa-bin/setpage.pl?http://www.elfa.se/elfa-bin/dyndok.pl?lang=se&vat=0&dok=2039.htm

I assume the pole is either 76mm or 89mm in diameter right?

You could use clamps and drill a hole in the roof and then fasten the pole to the "träreglarna som går under taket"

Du kan köpa byglar för båda rördimensionerna från Barcom i Bromma, har du företag? annars måste du nog gå genom ÅF.

http://www.barcom.se/html/fastmaterial.html

Du kan också gå genom Electro-Ton i Årsta, de är stora ÅF i Sthlm, jag känner dom, snacka med Janne eller Tore och säg vad du vill ha för prylar.

http://www.electro-ton.se/

Dom är även ÅF för Barcom.

Image link removed, please post as an attachment as was done for you in a previous post, as large linked photos take an age to load for people on dialup and hugely distort the forum page.. Admin

That´s exactly what I had in mind. The roof needs to be fixed anyhow,
old wood beneath the plates.

Im going to fix some kind of test rig first, once I get the Actuator
going.

I´ll get some of that cable and try it out.

Peace,
/Per

hi per
not sure exactly where you are in stockholm i am central and have a cheap 1.2 metre dish with again a cheap universal l.n.b and can pick up all bbc & itv channels 24 / 7. i am using a pace mk 2 sky + box but only have one input connected. just a comment but everyone i know with a sky digibox in stockholm recieves all bbc channels with as small as a one metre dish. any questions drop me a line
good luck t.m

I supose I might´ve gotten what I paid for.. But I got nothing with a 90cm Toroidal,
so I wasn´t sure that I would even get any signal.

Where can I get that lnb?(MTI AP-8 t2n)

I wouldnt wanna get a better dish of the same size (like a Gibertini),
so Id have to go with a 1.5m Gibertini, which costs 3800 SEK.
(my dish costs 1000 SEK)
And in that case, Im not sure I could even mount it on the wall,
which is somewhat of a requirement since my lawn is surrounded by small trees
and bushes.

Anyone have one that could tell me?
I only found this, and he got it mounted on the ground:

Im almost exactly 1 mil from Stockholm city.

Im not sure what makes for my bad signal,
but I exhaused my options with the 125cm.

I do not use a Sky box, though.
I use a Skystar 2 pci card and a Nokia 9902s.

I´ll see what I can make of the 2m dish.
If it cant be made to work either, there might be some other problem,
such as a distortion/blockage I cant see
There are a lot of trees and high bushes around my place,
but it seems to be a clear view for my dishes.

Peace,
/Per

No way they are getting vertical channels on 2D with a 120cm dish, it's impossible, you need at least 2.4 meter or above to get it above the threshold of the receiver here.

Ok, BBC and ITV are horizontal channels, no problems with 100cm dish here.

I get 63% signal quality with 90cm Fibo Gregorian dish that is equal to a 110cm offset dish.

This indication is on the Canal Digital Combobox.

This is really weird that we can't get the vertical transponders here but the horizontal is fine, it's the same beam.

Well strange that you have this good reception, because ITV 3 you can only get on vertical.

What is the manufacturer of your dish?

Channel Master, Gibertini or something else?

At 10.788V my quality meter is fluctating between 8% and 37% and seems to stabilize at above 30% in 5 secs intervalls

I have tried to adjust the subreflector, i didn't gain any more signal.....

However i changed from my Invacom SNF-031 to the MTI AP8-TW i received today and i can say that i can now get the vertical transponders just below threshold, i would need about 0.5dB C/N to get the picture stable.

This confirms that Invacom is not what people says, MTI is a much better LNB for the weaker vertical transponders, i could not get more than max 9% signal quality with Invacom, now i can get about 38% with MTI.

Pretty big difference.

However i am going to install my SMW setup tomorrow and plug the SMW LNB directly to the feed with out anything between, i will have a quarterwave transformer to get better VSWR.

This might help.

Another 10cm on the dish would have helped it.

I get all 2D horizontal channels with high peaks at 63% quality so it is a huge difference between V and H on the same beam here in Stockholm.

I wish i had a Humax receiver to test as they got a low threshold.

they had an old analouge dish on the roof of the block of flats where i live which became obsolete when bredband was installed so i bought a lnb (600 kr about 40 quid) without a cover on the front and put on it the old feed horn. type of dish i dont know but it has markings on it that are similar to misubushi. i took some pictures with my digital camera at 21.30 swedish time of both itv 2+3 to prove that i receive them and as soon as i work out how to post them i will do it

Great! That's the kind of evidence I like! Please don't forget to take a screenshot of your receivers picture, signal and quality bars on ITV 3 because that's the most interesting stuff!!!
