Yes, the Freesat EPG is also proprietary.

The Sly EPG can be used by Dreamboxes I believe. Maybe they can also use the Freesat EPG?
One more thing is something like sky active possible on freesat?

I don't know what Sky Active is? Are you sure that's the right name?

I no longer have a $ly box connected to a satellite dish and, even when I did, I never used any of those services as they cost money.

However I would wager that you can't persuade a Freesat box into doing this as they will be tied into a subscription card and Freesat boxes, by definition, have no subscription.

Did you stay on the channel with the EPG open for 30 to 40 seconds?

Catchup/on demand features on Sky work on a completely different superior system (progressive download) to that used by Freesat (direct streaming). Some interactive features on Sky use the "coloured" buttons which will not work on Freesat - except the "red" button for some features.

Hardly ever use it - in fact I can't even remember the last time. Ditto on my Freeview box.

same here with the Sky box - the red button stuff loads so slowly its not worth it.

I watch the extra channels when they are assigned epg numbers, or direct on my none Sky/Freesat receivers.

Loads quite quickly on the latest HD+ boxes - 9/10 secs from pressing red button to viewing content with a menu en route

The Freesat EPG is pretty easily available through third party receivers in general.

TVHeadend software on Linux will decode it fine as long as you have the Freesat Home transponder added.

I believe some of the Saorview combi boxes sold in Ireland (Irish DTT + FTA sat for the UK stuff) can also unofficially show the full Freesat EPG!

If anyone cares, the Sky EPG music changed today to the christmas version...

and someone captures the change over - which they seem to have done for the last few years looking at his other videos-

change occurs at about 6.30 mark

If the box is still functional then yes it should work although you may have problems if the software is a very early version and the first Amstrad DRX100 boxes are very slow. I gave mine away two years ago and it was still working 6 months ago.

Different channels are on different beams, not on the UK spot beam, like Talking Pictures TV, which is why it's best to get the best signal quality on the weaker channels.
Also have you skewed, rotated, the LNB, for maximum performance?
If you would please post some of the channels names, and frequencies, that you are experiencing problems with, along with your signal quality readings.

The channels may be weaker but are you experiencing any problems with them?
