Sunny? lol you will need a 1.8m dish to get viasat m8

i think more like 2.4m needed to get near 24/7 reception and not one of them cheap fortec star dishes a proper 2.4m solid.

I have a few mates in dublin that have tried with a 1.8 and not getting the HD channels anyway reliable, so i think it's better forget it for now.

Well you just have to up the dish size but this will cost.

If the viasat card will work in a vu+ linux receiver you might have more luck due to the better tuner used over the official receiver.

I have an interesting observation.

With Titanium LNb and 1.1 m dish I used to get 60 % strength, and 50 % quality, which was good enough to get Viasat Baltic. It does break up severe winds.

When I putted Ulta Inverto LNB, the quality and strength have gone to 90 %, but still get problem with winds.

Why?

I barely get Viasat on a 1m dish in the Scottish Borders (very weak signal disappears at the merest hint of drizzle). You dont have much chance in Belfast.

Problems with winds means your dish is poorly mounted, bad motor (SG2100's backlash can be adjusted) or in exposed position. No LNB will fix that. Make the dish more stable.

Please take a picture.

I used a meter for the transponder 11747 V 27500 to fine tune the dish.

hey chris i was using my technomate 5200 box to try fine tune it, if im picking up the european beam does that mean my elevation is perfect, its a big dish and hard to move when fine tuning, and is ur dish bang on 4.8E or 5E, cheers

You will gett he European beam stuff even if the dish is marginally misaligned. They are very strong signals.

1.1m is probably a bit on the small side to get the Nordic beam in Ireland.

Analogue man
???? :D

Unless its a decent quality dish its probably performing about like a 1.1m! Sight across it and see if the face is warped. then string the dish - put 3 cotton threads across it and see if they all meet in the middle with minimal gaps between the threads.

There is also the problem that big dishes are difficult to set up well unless you know what you are doing.

what size is that dish, looks big, have you a clear sight from trees if so you might need a installer to align it with proffessional meter.

It's 190 in height and 175 across, there is trees but I'm getting 97% on the European beam, maybe my technomate isnt picking it up, it's a foreign dish and offset as you can see from my pic
