I've had the white card in my 7020 running pli jade since mid Aug, and no issues with it. I think all the talks of overheating are mainly due to the Sly Italia cards, and not the uk ones.
I had it at 3.57mhz and went up to 6mhz to see if I could get it to fry, and it was never more than warm to the touch, never hot, just warm...

I'm hearing reports of people using the smargo but still no one posting any smargo setup info. You cannot use the omnikey on an E1 box asfar as I know as the drivers are mipsel.

Same experience, the card is warmer in the sly box! but perhaps with a HD receiver the card is doing more work? but cant see it.
Have read of many using 7020 with internal and no issues perhaps if you check the card regularly for the fist day.

Off topic-
Is there a thread about the Sly Italia problems in the last few days? maybe bearing in mind some of the reports it would be a good Idea to block everything again (card distribution must be nearing completion?)

Checking yesterday's mail, I just discovered that my new replacement card had arrived.

Whacked it in the DM7020 with Mgcamd/newcs 1.67 and it cleared immediately. None of that 'back in the digibox' malarkey. But it is just a freesat card, nothing special.

Entitlements good until 12 Dec. I'll keep an eye on whether they update nearer the time.

Fire extinguisher standing by. But temperature seems fine at the moment.

Didn't have to wait too long. Left it over night and this morning all the entitlements have changed to 14 Dec.

In newcs1.67 I have:

<blocksa>no</blocksa>
<blockua>no</blockua>
<blockga>yes</blockga>

and in <newcamdserver> <user> I have <au>on</au>

In mg_cfg, I have A: { 01 }

I'm running my white card in Newcs 1.66 and was wondering whether anyone could tell me if a blocker will soon be needed.

You obviously know about Italy's recent measures. I'm just scared that my chip might get fried. I read somewhere that one of the Turkish providers does an "ECM attack" every time live football is on and that a blocker prevents the chip from getting fried (although the card won't clear anything during the attack).

Is this true or just scaremongering?

Someone running a big commerical server I was chatting to on Skype also asked me whether I had a blocker when the new card came out.

It's somewhat comforting that no-one here seems to have heard of this.

I have a problem with Sky Sports HD3 its the only channels that is not working and want to ask sky for a new update but does NewCS do those updates?? And also would like to know if it can receive the monthly updates?


Or do i need to put it in the digibox for all this? I have the boxkey of course

I would put it in the sly box get it all sorted then move back to newcs.

My entitelments still say 11.10.2009 even tho i left it in my orig reciever overnight. Is there a fix time when they normally update or fixed amount of time I should leave in box ? thanks for any advice

d00k69, it could take 3 days. Read back a few pages in this thread, If you use MGCamd as the client it will update your card.

actually scrub that i understand that part. my mates connect to me via a cccam server i set up at work and server connects to my 800 at home runnign newcs\cc\m , what would be the best way to use mgcam working? thanks again

I have had a go at a draft Sticky for Xly Card updating via mgcamd. I do not claim to have originated any of this great work. All I have done is try to pull together and write down the work of the experts in a logical and clear format.

Please feedback if this is helpful and feel free to point out any errors, incorrect statements or inconsistencies so that they can be eliminated

Pre-requisites
White XlyCard originally paired in Xlybox
Box key generated and inserted into newcs.xml
newcs up and running in card server or dreambox.
Mgcamd to be installed on dreambox.
Omnikey card reader installed in server (or dreambox ?)


1. Install mgcamd 1.30a/b/c/d or 1.31 and mgcamd config on your dreambox
mg_cfg /var/keys
newcamd.list /var/keys
softcam.key /var/keys
Autoroll.key /var/keys
priority.list /var/keys
mgcamd.bin /var/bin



2. Check /var/keys/mg_cfg settings
A = 01
G = 03 (some people use 1)


3. Edit newcamd.list (or use B16MCC’s excellent config, newcs & .list generator)

4. Add new user with webinterface to your newcs server or just
paste it to newcs.xml

5. Ensure newcs.xml has auto update (au) enabled

6. When your card entitlements need to be updated you
Switch default cam on your dreambox to mgcamd
(blue button followed by arrow left or right to find mgcamd, followed by OK when you've found it)


7. Force entitlement updates by tuning dreambox to a BSB channel you don't have access to with your local card eg Racing UK (some people have just used sky Sports 1)


8. Let dreambox and server run all night and then check via Newcs web interface to see if card entitlements are up to date (may take 3 days so patience is required!)

I would agree with Wildbit, block GA (i had understood this was a possible cause for overheating with white card)
