I am using mgcamd 1.30d in Dm8000 and Newcs 1.67 in Ubuntu with OmniKey 3121. I cannot get 1.31 or 1.33 to work. If you can help me crack this would be great ! I am using the same newcamd.list and mg_camd.config which works with 1.30d with the other versions but no success. Any ideas appreciated.

That's good to know... Same drivers I suspect. I paid £5 for the 3121, how much cheaper than that is the 3021?

The 1.31. version I had to install manually as my online server (PLI) provides the 130d. In any case both versions worked for me with the same configuration files

@ Wildbit - Did you remove 1.30d before you installed 1.31 - or can they both exist side by side as altenative cam options but sharing the same .cfg and .list files ?

I have configured my NewCS and Mgcamd as mentioned. NewCS is running on my server and Mgcamd is on my DM.

I can't get them to connect? Any ideas?

For testing purposes I tried connection from CCcam on my DM using the same login as setup for Mgcamd. But still the same.

Seems like Newcs is refusing the connection but the deskey/password and usernames are all correct.

Really frustrating.

Have you accessed Newcs via Newcs web browser on defualt port 8080 and have you used CCCam info on the DM to check out which servers you are connecting to (or not). I set up CCCam first and then installed Mgcam afterwards.

Newcs and CCcam are both local on the server. They are both working perfect with the listening IP of 127.0.0.1.
I connect to the server CCcam using CCcam on the DM and everything connects perfect and I can see the card info.

I then logged in the NewCS web browser using port 8080 and setup the new MGcamd user.
But both MGcamd and CCcam on the DM cannot connect direcly to NewCS.

It's odd CCcam on the server allows connections but NewCS is refusing connections other than the local connection on the linux server.

Yes I tried this also. Only things I changed were the fact I'm using NewCS on a server and needed to setup the pcsc config for Omnikey reader. I also changed the listening IP to 127.0.0.1

From what you have explained it sounds like a port issue to me. Check the ports you're using, make sure you're not using duplicate ports in CCcam and NewCS.

Ah ok. So if I have two cards using port 21000 and 22000 in NewCS with local CCcam connecting on these. I need to create the Mgcamd user on another port? Is that correct?

No, the port in newcs is card specific not user specific.

I'm hearing reports of people using the smargo but still no one posting any smargo setup info. You cannot use the omnikey on an E1 box asfar as I know as the drivers are mipsel.

I'd like to confirm that the new white uk card does work in a Smargo USB card reader.

My setup is as follows:

* DM800 running Gemini 4.30
* CCcam 2.1.2 with NewCS 1.67

* Matching boxkey

Clears non-premium channels. Don't know about premium channels as I haven't subscribed to any of them since I've had the new card.

One thing I have noticed it that when switching between CAMs/Cards you need to disconnect the Smargo before trying to use it with the white card, otherwise the card doesn't init - dunno why.

Hmmm ok so it was correct already the user should be trying to connect on the same ports as setup for each card reader. So any ideas why it's not connecting? Has it something to do with the listening IP in NewCS? Will it only allow local server connections?

Whitelighter , could you give details of the smargo settings please. That's the settings made in the windows utility, I'm not talking about CCcam.cfg

Hello all, I'm new here and I apologise if what I'm asking has already been answered but I gave a good read at the forums and I can't say I'm not still a bit confused.

I read the Omniread installation thread and the blog about the Windows utility but I don't understand if the instructions are valid for a simple Dreambox installation with no external card server running. I simply have a Dreambox 7025 and my new white card just arrived and I simply need not to burn it, no cardsharing needed. Can I just go ahead and follow the instructions on the various threads or are there simplified directions for my case?

Sorry if this sounds condescending, but I dont know how much network knowledge you have, but you do realise that the other box needs an IP in the same subnet and that you cannot use 127.0.0.1? So the server has to have an IP like 192.168.1.32 and the dm an ip like 192.168.1.33 and that you use these IPs to connect. note the 192.168.1 that is the same - that is for a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 - it does not have to be 192.168.1 but it has to be the same for the 2 boxes.
