I guess not >>>>>>>>>>> I have posted much earlier in this Thread about my experience trying to open them with my Skybox F3 (Basically an Openbox) and in order to do so I bricked it. Now recovered, but not a happy event!

Basically, the Channels were not tagged as Scrambled, so the Receiver would not use the constant.cw file. I then used the "official" Channel Editor package to toggle the flags but, after uploading, the box went into bootloop (fruitloop for Satellite Receivers!).

A fellow Member with an M3 tried too, with the same result.

So my advice is to steer clear unless you have a Null Modem Cable and an old PC with a 9 pin Serial Port to hand to effect a repair.

dantis1, as regards 27.5W reception, high SR/FEC is one problem and scrambled PMT is another. Most of last year, PMT was scrambled and only a few receivers could cope with it, such as Dr.HD and Technomate 5402. Even if Openbox does recognize the high SR, you will have no picture when they scramble PMT again. At the moment PMT is not scrambled although the signal itself is scrambled in BISS.

Okay so my next question is which is the best HD box to buy that will decode these channels? I am told that the Technomate 5402HD is very good?
Would that be a good choice?
Many thanks.

The Technomate works well on 27.5
Has a good tuner -holds a good picture where a sky HD box won't show anything.

Hope this helps

Yes, totally agree with Trigger. The technomate 5402s work well and are relatively easy to set up.
Can al also confirm Dreambox DM800HD running mgcamd. CCcam wouldn't work, probably because the channels haven't got an encryption flag. Which means the softcam thinks they're fta and doesn't attempt to decode the channels.

I wouldn't rely on these channels as a permanent source as they may re-encrypt the 'program map tables' which means the screens will once again go blank.

Except on selected receivers such as TM-5402 and Dr.HD.
VU+ or DM are not the ones to go for if PMT scrambling is expected.

Okay thanks, does the TM 5402 also support Cccam as I have 2 clines running on the Openbox at the moment for all the European channels?

I am trying to send you a private message but it seems PM's are not enabled for you.
Can you enable it or is it dependant on the number of your posts?

Dantis1 needs to have made a few more posts before PMs are enabled automatically. This is to stop spammers registering and flooding our legitimate members with rubbish.

Is it not something that you can post in open forum?

You don't seem to understand what we are talking about, mate.
We are talking about the time when PMT is scrambled and it is not scrambled now. So your screenshot is misleading. Just try watching 27.5W when they scramble PMT and you will see black screen on your VU+.

Hi rai :p

I've just got a SkyBox F5 and used the channel editor to change the tag on BBC One to Encrypted. It hasn't crashed the box but it's still showing Scrambled with no intention of using the key. If you can, try and use editor "2012111618211334790" (I can't link because their awful website doesn't let me) and see if that works for you.

Rai, eh? That's a blast from the past!

Thanks for the info - I might try again sometime as I've now got two F3s and I know I can unbrick them, so one can be used as a Guinea pig with relative impunity.

Ah, just followed your info and the download from SatAid is the very same "Official" Editor I got direct from the Skybox Home Site.

Hi Tivu. Were you using win xp when unbricking the box. I might experiment but the pc I have with a serial interface only has windows 7 installed.

It seems to work with the F5 but I cannot for the life of me get it to unscramble the channels. I can't get it to unscramble ANY biss channel for that matter. Do you have some specific constant.cw for it?

I did, before the Key change.

Easily available constant.cw files via your favourite Search Engine.
