Yes I've also read reports on other forums they've encrypted the PMT and Linux E2 machines get confused about it. Somewhere up in this thread it's been said this might happen sooner or later ...

That means PMT isn't encypred for the moment. Linux boxes only open them when this happens.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately these channels don't carry EPG info.

Thanks for the quick answer, I suppose I was hoping for to much from these channels.

I'm pushing my luck now, another question, can you or anybody recommend any other decoders to handle BBC-SATBACK the main criteria's are 'cheap' and 'reliable'.

If you plan to watch these channels fairly often, I've been told that the Technomate 5402 or Dr HD receivers are the ones to go for. One of the reasons is these channels periodically encrypt the PMT which stops pretty much all receivers from opening the channels. Whereas these two specific receivers can handle the PMT.

Just remember if & when illicit reception of these channels goes mainstream the Beeb will almost certainly encrypt them properly & everyone will lose them.

Well I have just acquired a Technomate 5402 HD M2 and am trying to pull this in using a 1m dish but I cannot even find the bird. I keep finding Hispasat at 30W. I am sure I have read reports from the Canaries that the BBC package is being received a on a 1m dish. Can anyone confirm please. BTW - the LNB is an Inverto Black Ultra . Thanks.

Looks like your right on the edge of the footprint for reception

A 1M should just about do it. I get It here on a 1.1 that's on a motor. What are you using to try and find it? Once you have found Hispasat then adjust your skew as best as poss then its left a bit & up a bit and you should find it - hopefully

Looks like my dish may be marginal, but I do have a good LNB.

I have a basic sat finder with a needle gauge and tone which changes pitch with signal strength. I have printed information off from dishpointer; according to them the parameters are very similar::

HISPASAT INTELSAT 907
Elevation 53.9 Elevation 55.0
Skew 25.2 Skew 21.4

and only 2.5 degrees difference in the azimuth.

I have never aligned a dish before and with these very small differences I am not sure how to proceed.

As you've found Hispasat, optimise reception on that, then adjust towards 27.5W by nudging tiny amounts in Azimuth only - the Elevation difference shouldn't be too critical at this stage. When you are satisfied that you have got the correct Azimuth, lock it off. Only then pay attention to raising the Elevation slightly. Finally, twiddle with skew (If really necessary)

ie Don't try to engage in three-dimensional adjustment - do it one step at a time, majoring on Azimuth.

So just to clarify
1/Lock on Hispasat using meter.
2/Display BBC t/p on Technomate (will show <10% quality and high signal (false) but both in red.
3/Tweak ELEVATION watching Technomate display optimising quality

Is that right.

BTW why did you change the dish?

Thanks for the help.
