I can't replicate the changes with/without the feed in the Norsat I had previously - its tricky keeping the feed positioned with tape to hold it in. But there's definitely an increase in levels if I hold it in watching it at the dish with the analyser. I'll try again in a while.

Just tried it outside, and I totally lost all signals.

Put it back behind the box, and still have the same problem. Re-wiring is not really an option for me atm.

My 3rd Trust feed as a Ka feed for the Norsat.
I have tapered the outer thickness of a short section of 10mm copper pipe to fit inside the waveguide of thwe Trust feed..
yes there will be small interior reuction to the feed ..but am hopefull this can be ignored.
Then am going to slide a cut section of a pvc travel bottle onto the tube..
Pot it up with liquid plastic..
and make a suitable WR fitting on the end of the copper tube to attach to the Norsat.

Just found out that the TBS6983 Card will scan 18GHZ thanks to @CrazyCat

Evan - could you make up some sort of shield which could be temporarily rigged to shield you from various directions - out of the box (out of my tree possibly??) thinking - something like paint cans filled with concrete with garden canes embedded in them. then a chicken wire grid clipped to them with aluminium foil fastened to the chicken wire.

Can't help wondering Chris ...since you are seeing symptoms similar to mine..
Wot are all those extra (no locked) signals with no peaks around the newsnet part of the spectrum ???
could that be the shyte thats causing us problems ?

Further to my slightly bonkers idea yesterday I have a modification for the setup - the silver "thermal blankets" they use for rescues are metal covered plastic and a reasonable size to boot. Probably easier to handle than ali foil too and could be strung directly between supports.

The blowlamp heat distorted the bottle end a bit ..but not high enough up to prevent level clamping on the dish ..

Get a testcard on 18512V - I often find I lose Newsnet when I get a lock on other transmissions.

Newsnet still OK here. I have got my AZbox MiniMe back from Canada with the American firmware edition in, it has a very sensitive tuner with a a signal analyser page to boot....
