An exceelent expose of how insane Government policies are making the floods worse

Drowning in money: the untold story of the crazy public spending that makes flooding inevitable | George Monbiot

(A reports from Jan 2014 but nowt has changed)

And also council planning departments allowing building of houses on land that is unsuitable for housing.

I've seen a lot of people blaming the government for this on social media but they can't be to blame for extreme weather.

Our valley is zoned for housing - Ive seen the water 8 feet deep in the wettest areas in really bad years, and more runoff will just cause more problems

It's this 'I've got wet feet' attitude that's stopping Britain being great again.

Talking of wellies, there was an hours deluge very early this morning in this area, the garden looks like it has been hit with a mud bomb, nothing remains of the plant borders, they have merged with what should be a lawn. Roll on tomorrow.

Rather windy here but, strangely, dry - not for long I bet. I keep hoping that the wind takes the tree that will be blocking my eastern sats down but unlikely. Unless I give it a helping hand
:-saw

The conservatory is about to take off as well... but the Fibo 90 on the temporary mount seems strangely solid.

Quite windy and there's a definite chill in the air here this morning. It has been dry for four or five days however, most of the rain seems to be passing to the west of us.....

Wet, and windy, here, but it's been wet for weeks, or months, I've lost count:)
It's also been quite warm, in some cases warmer than Summer, including this morning.
I can only remember a couple of occasions, this Winter, when I've had the heating on. It just doesn't feel like Christmas, no doubt the real Winter will hit late January, and through until March, or even later.
