New Lnb changer

Hi feedsat, not quite what I meant. I was wondering if the DiSEqC motor would take a DiSEqC 1.0 command instead of 1.2. I know I can daisy chain 1.1 and 1.0 switches but I wanted to rotate the motor and switch to the correct lnb with a single 1.0 command. As I already have a Vbox being controlled by 1.2, I can't really use the same cable to control the lnb rotator... not an issue, just need to get a separate controller (or another receiver).
 
Can't really test it either as it's peeing it down today (and I am watching Russia lose world cup in ice hockey - well played, @Kveys).

I use a power divider then to a little STAB 4 way controller on a seperate co-ax to the changer motor. The other cable from the the divider then handles the 1.0 Diseqc switch which selects the correct LNB, this is all after the V Box which also moves the dish. all works very well fully automatic..using Diseqc 1.0 and 1.2 selected in the receiver.
 
Is the power divider just a T-splitter?

I am guessing it accepts a 1.0 command and then converts it to 1.2?

Yes, a T splitter CJ and yes, the Stab controller coverts to 1.2, that's why I use a separate cable to save any conflicts.
 
Gotcha - thanks Chris. That's a very good solution (already have a second run by the dish especially for the rotator so can use that).
 
All about this two options X1 -- X2 , just for the changer for CJ and Cardiff .

Finished the two changers , both adjustable between the Parabola ( X1 ) and Laminas ( X2 ) calculations .
The motor together with the side-plates can be attached at different positions .
The motor between the side-plates can be tilted by the slotted holes .
The beam is at dish side clamped in the former Technirotor pole clamp .
There are two marks on it , with X1 its pulling out a few cm's , with X2 its even with the clamp .
The holes in that clamp to connect it to the dish are more close to each other than the original in the dish .
Two new holes must be drilled , I added a plate to locate the place for the new holes , it can also be used to reinforcement on that spot .
When the final setup is found , the beam can be secured by drilling holes through that clamp and screws in it .

allup and running, a small question

Should the lnb that has focus be directly straight with the motor extension?, mine is 2 holes to the right, this doesnt deem right, but am getting very good signal.

Hello,

I just put the Lnb Changer on the Laminas AS1800 + SMR 1224, it is not adjusted permanently just a test with the Ku Band Lnb and Lnb Circular C Band.

2 reinforcements also in place

I can't seem to get a good signal - have tried both X1 and X2. With X2 (above), the signal is there but is not the strongest. The LNB holder threaded rod is too long and needs to be lower. Also, with the LNB so low, the metal work seems to be in the way of the signal.

With X1, the LNB holder is too short! I will get out with some measurements from the ground for the original LNB holder tomorrow and see what works best.

@cardiff - have you set yours up yet?

My photos were taken without adjustment of the Lnb Changer, the side-arms tubes (originals) are too long , I'm doing new ones but first I used threaded rods. The position of the motor diseqc 1.2 is X1 but not the central side-arm, There are a lot of testing to do. (I will test again in position X2 )

You must begin with the example of @Trust1


and after that you see the difference with the measurements given previously in the thread, it is quite complex.

I disassemble everything, I know it will be time to adjust the Lnb Changer

Showing pictures is the only way to get the best out of it .

The lenght of those side arms still was an issue to me .
CJ , cant you put the motor to the top end of the beam and find a way to attach the sidearms like I pointed ?
The beam at the dish in approx X1 position or further backwarts .
The those lnb rods are made that long to make it possible to put two conicle C feedhorns side by side .
I calculated with 200 mm from the centre of the wheel to the clamp centre .
If you make another set-up they can be shorter , the exention tube at the motor allows passing by the C feedhorn by the F connector .
But when the C lnb ('s) are in the middle , that tube can be shorter .

The centre point wasn't anything really...just something I marked to give me a reference for the changer.

I know I know nothing, but, looking at the pics, Cardiff´s motor is higher, with arms at same fixing point.

Not too sure about the orange handled clamp though!
 
A bit of success today. I think the original rods are just a tiny bit too long as they are bowing a bit, so I will probably get some threaded ones to make them more adjustable. The signal from Ku band is almost as good as with the original holder - I'd say it's probably a couple of 10ths of dB worse. But more adjustments to be made.

Reinforcement bars half fitted - need to work on the middle bit - have nowhere to attach it to at the moment.
