Well, we still have it, although the sun is melting some and there's been no more snowfalls. In parts it's drifted up to nearly a foot deep, and although the dogs love it, other animals don't! Bob the builder has been unable to get through and my shopping trip for supplies has gone on hold, though it's a little early to be requesting a helicopter drop from the "Croix Rouge". I suppose the dogs had better be exercised, wood cut, coal brought in, and I have a kitchen ceiling to paint. Never a dull moment here!!

I don't know whether "you lot" still have snow, but "us lot" in Northern France certainly do! Although the roads are relatively clear, thanks to the sun and tractors pushing bales of straw along to cut through the drifts, there has been little real melt, with hard night frosts. You can see what it's like from the 'icicle' photo. It's forecast to warm up after Wednesday, if you can believe that!

Stunning day here in the Repooblic: Bright sunshine, blue sky with fluffy white clouds and almost eight degrees Celsius.

That's a glimpse of Springtime, which hopefully is not too far away.

Actually, on an even more optimistic note, the F1 season starts in a little over a month and our summer hols in Lazio and Apulia are only 16 weeks away.

Not been above freezing for over three days in the other Republique. At least the F1 season opener usually makes me think it's Spring. My sister in law told me over the phone this afternoon, that her husband will be going on a business trip to Japan about the middle of April (as a patent lawyer he goes fairly regularly) and as a treat to celebrate their Silver anniversary she is going with him. I'm just a tad jealous

We woke up to a sprinkling of snow on our cornflakes and cars this morning, since then I think we have had just about every conceivable weather scenario, sleet, hail, snow, rain, lots of sun, cold mist and fog, well this is England....we wouldnt have it any other way would we?

Unbroken sunshine here for the last two days. Snow is slowly melting, though lingering in the fields and where it's drifted. At least the fine weather has meant Bob (le bricouler) could repair the leak around the velux window at the top of my stairs.

Been relatively mild here today and 90% of our snow has gone. It was mild enough for me to venture to Ikea and Brico Depot in Rennes and spend over 500 Euro's of "plastic" money anyway!! Roll on Spring and bankruptcy!!

We've escaped yet again - had more than our fair share in Dec/Jan though.

I cannot recall much of my O Level (Proper GCE ................ ) Geography, but I thought the Norh West tended to be light on snow owing to gulf stream warming air currents.

Or is that bollo*** in these days of negative global warming?

Well in my short 55 years experience here in this locality I would say your comment is a tad incorrect. Whilst it is true there is a microclimate in Cheshire/Southport area caused by the Gulf stream sweeping up , 30 miles away further NE at the foot of the Pennines it is a dumping ground for every cloud that needs to rise over the Pennines to continue on its journey. So in summer we get hit with all the rain and have one of the highest rainfalls in the country and in winter we get the same with snow.
