Stop it Martin stop it!. It would be interesting to see how much a 2.2 would be these days and if possible to buy without the added "mount" hardware
You'd better come out of retirement.........on the road at 6 in the morning dear boy......;)

Let me get this straight - your current mounting point and general installation was thrashed when you had a 2.2 mounted.
You're now down to a 1.8 plastic dish, expecting this to get less thrashed in the next global-warming-induced storm...
And you want to put something bigger aluminum-made up there?

...I can't wait to see the pictures of your next mount :) :)

I'm only dreaming at this stage ST lol,

A 2mtr Prime wouldn't offer enough extra performance over the CM 1.8 for such a lot of money outlay tho Martin i think, sadly.... wouldn't be cost effective for me.

Looing at the gain figures on the 1.8/2.4 CM, there's nothing in them to be honest.

The actual size that would have been perfect for the limited space I have available is 2.2mtr...
That would literally stop fractions short of brushing the walls ..
2m would probably not offer much more than my modified 1.8 Alcoa ...which is currently at 2.2m roghly with the homebrew extension wings.
In all honesty ..I am torn as to which way to go ..having recently discovered than it may be possible to get a Laminas 1.8 to my door for about £600..
That wouldn't replace Christina of course ..as an offset wouldn't be viable at her spot in the yard ...but since there is more free space at Carls spot ..
the lower declination of a 1.8 offset would be practical.
Those of you with a garden facing South with few obstacles are very lucky indeed..
Everything here has to be crammed into the small space avalable..

When choosing the site to position Carl ...all factors had to be considered ..such as :-
Not to far forward that he couldn't see over the rear yard wall ..
Not to far back so as to cast a big shadow on Christina ..
Perfectly placed in line due south of Christina so that when she looks South ..she can just see over Carl ...
Sadly compromises had to be made and Carl has to be placed edge on in some cases in order that his shadow impact on Christina is minimised.
All this will alter of course IF I decide to upsize Carl from 1.5m to 1.8..
but providing he is motorised and can be turned edge on ..the impact on Christina will hopefully be minimal.

I don't mind spending that sort of money pal I was expecting over a grand for a 2.4.

Including VAT and delivery I would be surprised if there was any change from two grand. You could save a few hundred on delivery charges and collect yourself or arrange independent collection.

Also, the price can vary on the same size dish depending if you want the rear radial bracing bars that fix between the centre mounting ring and the peripheral antenna support ring.

Now you have experienced a Precision antenna there is no turning back..........

That looks to be a very nice dish, the fence does not seem to be too high, easily scalable with a pair of ladders and on a remote site, interesting....

Having just seen the quotes given by Elite Antennas to forum member "drats" in the topic asking where to buy a 1.8m dish (two grand for a 1.8m antenna) I will revise my guestimate for a 2.4m Elite antenna to three grand.

..and a 2.2m would probably be a non stock item ...so I can imagine what that would cost ..
Nice but seriously too expensive for non lottery winning mortals like myself ...
:(
