I really don't agree with this, at least not for the x221. I have 2 (plus another that has failed and keeps rebooting) and both are about the same. Great for blind scan, but just reasonable for sensitivity, and easily overloaded. For Astra 2 North beams I have to point the dish away from the satellite otherwise the South beam floads the receiver and I get nothing. If the whole satellite is low power then it is ok but if there is a mixture of high-power and low-power transponders the low-power one sometimes don't work. For a receiver with a sensitive tuner look at the Triax SR110.

well for my area I have found it to be good but not all receivers work well everywhere so as in your example you have found a better one for you.

Wod, you can't win 'em all. The SR110 is excellent for sensitivity, but no blind search and FTA only. I like my x221, and it's a combo so it is easy for all the family (everything in one box, and only the need to press CH+ & CH- to switch from sat to terrestrial).

In my limited experience of three receivers, the Manhattan was most sensitive, followed by the Humax Foxsat when I used it on the motor and then the Vantage. If I was going for another receiver I could be swayed by the Openbox S9 HD that Vipersan has been quietly enthusing about.

Well I find this interesting. I have been looking at some of the vantage recievers for sensitivity but I to now am thinking of the openbox S9. I have a Manhattan xt-cm and to be polite, I hate it, no where near as user friendly as my TM-5400 or even my TM-600! I would like to try another different reciever though, but there's so many out there now!

Right, this is how it's gone this afternoon..... .........before trying to hoist it back up the pole.

Well, it didn't go....up the pole that is. I slackened off the motor clamps but no matter how hard I pulled on the rope (which was looped over the top T) I couldn't get the motor and dish to budge.

So, I now have a plan involving a plank, a car jack, an old fence post and a length of old heating pipe. A photo or two to follow should explain it all and keep the smutty remarks to a minimum!!

Heath Robinson is my idol. The dish has moved up roughly 10cm, at this rate it will be where it was originally by......Wednesday? (I am moving a circlip up and tightening it under the motor each time it 'rises'.)

Why didn't you just put the motor above the "T" bracket to start with?

Well, it's been getting further up the pole as the dish sizes have increased. But I don't think it will be going there as it will make access a little too difficult from that existing ladder and I'm worried about both the dish fouling the guttering and the increased exposure to the elements.

To be honest, it's a lot easier to be able to slide it down the pole if absolutely neccessary. I couldn't have done this last installation on my own if it had been above the "T".
